Maintenance for the week of March 9:
• [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – March 11, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 1:00PM EDT (17:00 UTC)

What do you do when ZOS takes your toys (ESO characters) for maintenance?

I am personally drinking fermented grape juice and thinking what to do with my time. I have a 3-role warden and a new arcanist character that i wanted to play during maintenance.

I've actually had ESO in personal maintenance mode for the last 2 weeks, as I needed a break. I only login each day to
    - collect the login rewards and open the hireling emails on my main, and
    - open the hireling emails and buy horse training on my alts.

Once that's done, I go back to my other game of the moment: Horizon Zero Dawn (my 2nd playthrough).

I do play games a lot and develop fatigue, especially because i record my single player games gameplay and post on my small youtube channel. During intense gameplay (shooters are the worst) and especially due to recording (i need to stay sharp all time) fatigue builds up fast.
I can record for 6 hours at most, but usually its 2-3 hours. Then i log into ESO just to relax in normal mode dungeons and overland questing. But some days, like today, ZOS takes away my toys for maintenance.

Normally I'm at work. If not I play other games or do whatever else I feel like doing. ESO has never been my only hobby or even my only computer game, so it's not a big deal to me when it's offline.

I do find it weird that it still needs to go offline for maintenace though. That was a surpise when I started playing, for several years before that my only MMOs were Guild Wars 1 and 2 which don't take the servers offline for maintenance and say they're able to do that because of the 'megaserver' system - exactly what ESO calls theirs. I just assumed maintenance downtime had stopped happening for MMOs like it has for most online services.

I like to play games where the developers care about the player base. Many thousands of hours on Rimworld now. no unnecessary patches, Devs understanding a game should actually be fun. Full support and help for mod developers, and a team that you can tell really love what they do.

I'm at work, servers should be up by the time I come home. When I have the monday of, which happens regularly, then I just play something else, or do something else completely.

I finished exploring a wilderness dungeon in Arena, then did a Fighters Guild quest in Daggerfall. Now I'm going to sleep.

Been playing ESO a long time and the game has trained me to do several things:

Maintenance means I need at least one other good game installed for when ESO is not available.

Update/patches mean I need numerous alts so I can play the effective ones while the freshly nerfed ones rest until the buff/nerf cycle goes full circle again.

When something seems to malfunction in the game, I come here first to learn that it is usually on the game end, not mine. That way I can enact my appropriate troubleshooting procedures - go get a cup of coffee.

when the servers go down i browse the forums, listen to music, play sudoku, that sorta stuff. i used to hop over on pts but since i reset my computer i havent really wanted to go through downloading the pts again and keeping it regularly updated. plus i always tend to have really good luck on drops and stuff over on pts and none of that gets carried over to the live servers so its worthless to me

I mean, I'm at work. So, in theory I'm working (but actually I'm reading the patch notes)

    Taking breaks are always good.

And I love Horizon! Great series!

That's exactly what I do from time to time. Whenever I get back into ESO, it's ESO and nothing else. Then I get burnt out like after the last event. Right now I'm no lifing Fallout 76. ESO is great and all but sometimes when you play other games, you realise you're missing out on so much. ESO doesn't scratch every itch. At this point I'm in a permanent maintenance mode but spent too much money (probably over 1k) and time to simply move on.

A lot of different things. I can play my main game, or be outside on my mountain bike, or wandering with my dog, or whatever with my hubby, and/or with friends, and/or with family, and/or in my garden, and so on... I'm more the type who has never enough time to do all what she wants... :D

It was done before I got on this morning. I'm always up at 6:30 am MDT - have to unload the dishwasher, let the dog out, get a cup of coffee, check the financials etc.

When maintenance goes longer, I just do some housework. 35 year old house, always something needs done.

During scheduled maintenance\patches I'm normally working, need cash to feed the habit :D:#
I have an alt Arcanist that just hit CP last night \o/ So that was cool but lately like a few others I've been taking it easy and playing other games.
So if I've time between projects and there is ESO downtime I've been running around in Fo76, The Outer Worlds, Horizon: FW, System Shock remaster. PLENTY of options.
I also have a stupid huge amount of titles that I've barely touched or haven't even tried yet.

Work, playing other games, or some other stuff.

Currently trying to finish the new Zelda game, but also the Borderlands series (B2, TPS, B3, and Wonderlands). Slowly making my way through the backlog. Afterwards, thinking of trying Baldur's Gate that everyone's talking about - never tried that franchise before.

I read the forums repeatedly and once it gets close to the proposed completion time, I refresh the page every few seconds until it says complete.

I’m looking forward to Starfield so I’ll have something to do on maintenance days.

I play this other MMO that has better graphics (though that's hardly something to write home about when you have poor eyesight) but no rezzing. It's creepy, the learning curve is so steep it's practically a straight line up and I don't like it. However, the pro streamers caution against trying to log off, so I'm stuck in it.
