It’s the good old let the procs do the damage and stay tanky in the meantime

I actually haven't seen an arcanist in pvp that ISN'T using that setup lol...it's really sad

Yeah I also couldnt get runeblades to do damage, but honestly didnt try a max magicka build. I’ll try it! But doesnt the shield and heals scale off health?

Does your build still feel tanky, Camera Beard? The BGs I play in you get melted if youre not tanky/healy.

    Are you using crafty alfiq?

Initially, I tried war maiden thinking I would get maximum damage out of Rune blades and Fate Carver, as they both scale off of magic. But I didn’t go all in on a magicka build.

Impervious scales off health, but even at 28k-30k health it's still really strong, ~15k first shield and 9k second shield.

Chakrams scales off max mag or max stam - I can spam 10k shields on myself and all my teammates in BGs. This stacks with impervious, but unlike impervious, is a crux generator. If they can't break through this shield, you just cast until you have three crux and heal yourself back to full with Impervious.

The trick is to use mag cost reduction glyphs - it makes all your expensive skills much cheaper and makes Fatecarver free (which, BTW, with almost 50k mag in no cp means you have a free 8k shield from it).

Throw in Undeath (which for some silly reason still applies to shields) and you'll feel very tanky.

And yes, Crafty and Ancient Grace front bar.

Is that PVE? That sounds like you wouldn't have enough bar space for both chakram shields AND Impervious rune ward on a PVP build.

What would your skill bars look like?

PvP. Bar space isn't really that bad, I just don't have a heal besides impervious and runeguard. Don't really need a heal though because chakrams is 10k (in a BG) and builds crux. In CP chakram is even cheaper and caps at 11k.

Damage is just runeblades, beam, and meteor. Entropy as well but it's not an insane dot. The whole build is more of a half and half but you can very easily top frag while keeping your team alive the entire time, you just have to pick and choose your ult dumps.

That’s why I am trying to go a different route with my magicka Arcanist. I am planning on doing either 5pc deadly, 5pc wretched vitality with balorgh or 5pc war maiden, 5pc shield breaker with two 1pc recovery monster sets. Both setups will have destro front bar and resto back bar. I am also working on another option that includes Shattered Fate set but I haven’t had time to work on the other sets to go with it.

Oh you're using the Chakram shields that heal.
How do you have enough crux for that and impervious runeward And beam all at the same time?
Sounds like there's always a time when you need a skill and it isn't ready when you need it. Proverbial "caught with your pants down" scenario.

But you did give me an idea for a Chakram of Destiny PvE tank!

I'm going to call her the everything tank.
Dual shields, frost staff front bar/sword and board back bar.
A bit of damage with Tentacular dread or fulminating rune depending on the content. Master of arms as the only damage CP.
Reconstructive Domain, sentinal of Rkugamz monster helm set, echoing Vigor. Her healing over time will assist a healer.
She will be able to assist with everything all at the same time.

No, not chakrams that heal; those are crux consumers. As I said, I'm using the crux generator morph - the shield is much stronger and can be rotated with impervious to heal. I almost always have 3 crux because both Chakrams and Runeblades generate it.

the other way ive seen an arcanist work in pvp is build super tanky and high max hp, and rely on the "sanctum of the abyssal sea" ultimate (the shield one that absorbs dmg and then explodes the absorbed dmg as a dot in aoe around you)

ive seen at least 1 arcanist playing this way who has about 67k hp and can be very dangerous when running the shield ult if your in melee range
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

the one that i know of doesnt have any dmg at all outside of the shield ult lol, they are full on heavy tank and rely on the shield ult to deal dmg

Those kinds of builds are so annoying. It’s got to be incredibly boring to play it.

    Just ignore them.

If I see a decent arcanist, I prefer not to have a fight with him, their survivability is really strong. The damage is not the strongest in the game, but this is correct considering such survivability. Although I saw one arcanist with a bash build on BG, he definitely used Deadlands Demolisher, I did several BGs against him and it was unbearable, huge damage in melee (this was not just bash spam, but la-skill-bash weaving I guess), mobile with vamp mist and incredible sustain and survival.

That bash build at least sounds unique.
