Sturdy trait is not changing my block cost

I just changed my Infused Perfected Yolnakriin greaves from Infused to Sturdy and the block cost did not change.

✭✭✭✭✭I haven’t tested Bracing Anchor, but I know there are a handful of block mitigation boosts that do not show up on the advanced stats screen. Ancient Knowledge with an ice staff and Defensive Stance don’t show it, but their block mitigation does work. I don’t believe Defensive Stance’s block cost reduction shows either, but it works.
The change to bash damage from heavy armor and light armor pieces isn’t reflected either, only the damage as calculated based on your resistances, Deadly Bash, and Bashing Brutality. In some cases that means the bash damage stat is off by nearly 50%.
You must always test the actual effect rather than go by the stats page. I wish they’d fix it, but my impression is it’s been put on the back burner because so many of these things are a UI error only.Edited by virtus753 on August 18, 2023 8:44PM0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Bracing Anchor actually shows up on your Advanced Stats page even outside of combat. You might want to remove it completely and compare, since it will not change how it is displayed in combat vs. outside of it.
The following testing was done with a blank armory slot (no CP, no passives, no skills, no attributes, no food) and 7 white level 1 non-enchanted armor pieces.
Bracing Anchor tested with no armor (0 resistances other than crit, and mobs can't crit):
Without Bracing Anchor: The Advanced Stats page shows block mitigation as the base 50%, which is correct.
When I am not blocking, a Wasp hits with Bite for 1867, Zoom for 4667, and Sting for 3733.
Against block, the Wasp hits with Bite for 934, Zoom for 2334, and Sting for 1867.
The block mitigation is 50%, as expected.
With Bracing Anchor: The Advanced Stats page shows block mitigation as 60.0% even out of combat. That's correct, since Bracing Anchor improves your blocking mitigation by 20%. 50% base increased by 20% is 0.5*1.2 = 0.6, or 60%. (All other block mitigation increases also work multiplicatively except the heavy armor bonus, which is additive.)
Against block, the Wasp now hits with Bite for 747, Zoom for 1867, and Sting for 1493.
These are exactly 40% of the non-blocked figures, so Bracing Anchor is working as intended and properly reflected in the Advanced Stats page (except that it always shows the increased block mitigation, not just while you're in combat).
Sturdy tested with heavy armor to avoid the block cost changes from light and medium:
No traits: The Advanced Stats page says 1750, and block costs 1750 verified in CMX.
7 sturdy: The Advanced Stats page says 1505, and block costs 1505 verified in CMX.
1505 is 86% of 1750, so the game is correctly removing 2% of the block cost per piece of sturdy.
Study is working and correctly reflected in the Advanced Stats page.
Something else is going on in your case with the Perfected Yol piece. It isn't that the sturdy trait itself is bugged.2 -
madman65✭✭✭✭✭Thank you Virtus753 for your time to show the proper block cost and mitigation. My Templar tank has the same trait setup and the block cost is 530 so that tells me that something is not right. My mitigation is at 72% all the time either in/out of combat and that is concerning. I tanked 2 trials Friday night and I can real see the damage applied. I was in nDSR and nSE for those 2 trials I was really getting hammered, I do not run into a Vet because I am get killed and rezzed alot which is embarrassing. Also like the beginning statement, I changed the Greaves from Infused to Sturdy and there was no change in the block cost. What is your suggestion?Edited by madman65 on August 20, 2023 6:05PM0

✭✭✭✭✭Need more information here to figure it out. For each build: What color is your sturdy gear? Are you on the shield bar in these screenshots (with a sturdy shield)? I assume you have Tireless Guardian (red CP passive) at that CP level, but correct me if I'm wrong. I will also assume you have Fortress on a sword and board bar or Ancient Knowledge on an ice staff bar - the 36% cost savings is significant.
Perhaps easiest if you just screenshot your build from CMX, and let us know if you're running Defensive Stance, whose cost reduction also shows up in Advanced Stats.0 -

The 1750 base block cost is first reduced by any flat values, in this case the 40 from Tireless Guardian and the 203 from your one gold Bracing jewelry glyph.
1750 - 243 = 1507
Now for your 36% from Fortress and your 28% from your 7 pieces of gold sturdy (counting the shield). These are calculated multiplicatively. They are not additive, so it's not 36% + 28% = 64% reduction. It's 1507 * 0.64 * 0.72, where 0.64 represents the 64% cost left after Fortress and 0.72 represents the 72% cost left after 7 sturdy.
1507 * 0.64 * 0.72 = 694
(Since you are running 1 light piece and 1 medium piece, the 3% cost penalty from the 1 light and the 3% cost bonus from the 1 medium cancel each other out completely.)
If you were to switch back to Defensive Stance on top of that, you would get another 10% off (so multiply by 0.9):
694 * 0.9 = 624.6 (~625, but possibly off by a hair due to rounding)
Note that your Imperial Templar will get even more cost reduction than this because of the Imperial Red Diamond passive, which knocks 6% off multiplicatively again (yes, it works on core abilities, including block cost). The Templar passive Restoring Spirit does not reduce core ability costs, unfortunately, despite the tooltip failing to mention that.Edited by virtus753 on August 21, 2023 3:39AM2 -
