The range is 22 meters but it doesn't seem so.
What is up with the short range of this particular skill?
Dear Community/Followers,

I want to address recent concerns regarding allegations of inappropriate direct messages and supposed cheating. First and foremost, I want to clarify that I do not admit to any wrongdoing. However, I understand that my actions may have been perceived in a way that caused concern.

As many of you know, I am a disabled veteran who served in Iraq, and I am permanently and totally mentally disabled. My PTSD, which was formally diagnosed in 2013 after being reclassified in the DSM-5, has affected me in ways that are difficult to fully explain. While this is not an excuse, it has, at times, clouded my judgment and impacted my behavior. This condition is something I have lived with for a long time, and it is a daily challenge.

As an influencer, streamer, and game reviewer with over 300 reviews, 800 followers on Twitch, and 1,600 followers on TikTok, I understand the responsibility that comes with my platform. Our role as influencers is to set a positive example, and I want to make it clear that I do not condone actions that go against the Terms of Service (TOS) or End User License Agreements (EULA) of any platform or community. Even though societal norms have evolved, and what was once deemed acceptable behavior in the past is no longer appropriate, I am committed to adapting and ensuring that my actions reflect the values we strive for today.

I want to go forward with a commitment to better representing the disabled members of our community. I recognize that I may never fully "fit in" or be "normal," but I am dedicated to improving and learning from these experiences. It is crucial that we have more flexibility and better support services for disabled veterans like myself, so we can remain active members of our communities without being unfairly limited by our disabilities. These services would help ensure that we can make better decisions and avoid situations like this in the future.

Thank you for your understanding, and I am grateful for the continued support of this community as I work to become a better version of myself.

Sincerely,
theshockcable

It's definitely 22m, it's just that 22m is much shorter than 28m than it seems (almost 20%). It has the same range as beam.

The issue you're feeling is likely positional desync, and is an issue with all abilities, but is particularly more noticeable the shorter the range of the ability.

This skill "RUNEBLADES" doesn't activate at the same distance of 22m as the beam.
    so its not actually 22m.
    I have tested this.
Its activation distance seems to be half of the beam some reason.

activation distance doesn't exist for the arcanist beams as you don't need a target to activate it

Good way to test it is put both runeblades and the Arcanist ability The Imperfect Rune on your bar. Both need targets and both are only 22m, see if they both light up at the same time on an enemy.

22m is too small honestly. Should be 28m.

i would agree with this, it would at least give it some slight advantage over flail by having significantly more range for the meager dmg it does

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

But I agree with what @eternalshockcable is saying. What's the point of having a 22m range when the skill won't target an enemy 22m away?

I've felt this way about Runeblades, too. Now I have to see how far the target is before it lights up/targets.

i dont know how to know if runeblades really doesn't have a range of 22 metres.

the skill says it has a range of 22 metres but according to multiple people it doesn't?
except eternalshockblade used the arcanist beams despite them not needing a target to use

maybe you're just standing more than 22 metres away from a target if the skill doesn't light up

LunaFlora is wrong you don't need a target for beams. LunaFlora , I'm not talking about the activation of beams as per the topic we're talking about blades. You're the only one that says something about beams needing a target for activation.

Runeblades needs a target but does not activate in 22m. Test for yourself.

*edited second post for context. This way users can understand that we're talking about runeblades activation and not the arcanist beam*

the beam lights up not runeblades. You're right though this is a good test.

is what you said to which i responded with

"activation distance doesn't exist for the arcanist beams as you don't need a target to activate it"

so i know you dont need a target to use the beams as i told you you don't need a target so why do you tell me i said the opposite?

and you mentioned the beams first, not me. but how do i test the distance of runeblades? i cant see how many metres are in front of me as if im a computer

Runeblades is useless in PvP, where Ceph’s Flail beats it as a spammable in every way imaginable.

It’s a shame, as the animation and sound effects are way better than CF.

I’ve tried a couple niche builds to get Runeblades damage up, but the skill is just too weak. As is, it’s gimped.

SandandStars, true I went Ceph's Flail. I did notice what you were saying about Runeblades being gimped some reason I can't figure out why but the damage is nerfed against pvp targets and Ceph's Flail hits with its full minus their mitigation.

I also noticed that the skill doesn't light up in the 22m range its supposed to even needing a target at 22 it doesn't light. It seems to be half that distance. I think i said that. my bad. :#

I do enjoy the animations and sound effects as well. Beautiful skill there . *sigh*

A lot of arcanist skills suffer from having shorter range than comparable skills
