Every time one of my characters goes past a Tamriel beggar and is forced to ignore them due to no interactions programmed into the game, I get a little bit
sadCat.png

Yes, I know, it's just a game, but the roleplaying part of me wishes I could give the poor things something, just like in Skyrim and Oblivion.

Me too! I constantly find myself running up to beggars, just in case for some reason, that beggar I can interact with.

Never has worked for me though.

Yeah, would be a nice addition, if we could donate some gold.

Sometimes I use the "gold raining" emote you get from thieves guild as a workaround. Of course the beggars won't respond, but better than nothing.
Never get between a cat and it's candy!

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

It's sad. I don't think giving them money would help much, but sometimes I think it'd be nice if I could give one of them a job as housekeeper for my larger properties. I'd accept the risk of having the house robbed for skooma money.

The interactions with beggars where you can't give them gold, are usually the ones where you can only give them gold during a quest where they give you information in exchange.

There are also beggars which you can rarely randomly encounter on the roads or near/in cities of the 15 main alliance zones, which you can give gold. There is even an achievement for doing so. These beggars will have a tiny white arrow over their heads, like a quest NPC following you. Giving them gold will grant you a small amount of exp. These usually spawn near a half in the ground foodbag.

    More charity, less vanity :)

I like to imagine my Saxhleel gives food and shelter to the lost and injured creatures he finds on his travels across the swamps. Guars are most welcome!

Yep, agree. Beggars you can give gold to. Guar trains travelling between Necrom and Mournhold, or Bandarii between Rimmen and Leyawiin. Road signs, and inter-provincial roads that make sense. These little things are the things I'd love to see more of.

If all else fail, try to get the most of the situation !
    Beggars have a very low pickpocketting difficulty ! Steal-steal-kill ! :D

....Aaaaaand I'll see myself out, ok, ok.

    Agreed!

Sometimes you can interact and talk with them, but not give them gold. There's that lady in Antiquarian Circle that sweeps the floor. She says something about having lost everything, and we can't give her any gold :(
Glory to you and your Dunmer House!

If they let us donate, it could give a small buff or the beggars could drop hints for nearby dungeons or something. Maybe up the Legerdemain skill of the character who donated, as a nod to Oblivion and a way for less criminally-inclined characters to raise that skill.

In the earlier games, many are collaborators with the Thieves Guild.

It would not be highly recommended to hire them as a key keeper.

I don't think I ever got that achievement for the base game beggars.

Yesterday I met an Argonian on the road between Morthal and Labyrinthian whom I could give gold and/or a suggestion. I think they have inserted these random encounters for the event.

Anyway, I do feel bad when I go past one I can't help.

I remember seeing that achievement but have never found a beggar I can actually interact with.

I'd rather educate them so they can look after themselves...

"See that plant, that's nirncrux, you can sell that for gold at a trader. And that one is water hyacinth, you can sell that too."

A few hours work each day and they'll be able to feed themselves, their families, and be on their way to becoming a multi-millionaire like I am!

I'd like a give to beggar option as well. I don't like seeing suffering, whether it's just a game or not.

I don't play on my thief characters that often, but when I do I feel genuinely upset when I fully pickpocket certain NPCs with one particular voice actor in the german localization because that VA does a really convincing job about sounding distressed that he lost his stuff. It's horrible

They would spend it on Skooma.

There was at least one pet-able dog in the Zenithar market areas (near the sweetroll seller).

The one by Craglorn’s eastern gate is not pet-able though.
