How do your turn on Quest HINTS, not the icons

I'm trying to help my friend turn it on as I have it turned on already but I can't figure out how I did it (it's been years). I'm talking about how when the quest displays on the screen there's a grey text under the quest that gives you hints as to where to go, what to do etc. Thank you!

No that's just about the compass and icons.

I didn't think there was a config for it, it just shows up if there is a hint available (at least in console UI)

I'm on PC. My friend and I are doing the same quests together and I have hints and she doesn't. She really wants to use them for when I'm not there to help out because she's kinda new.

i really though you were referring to the quest tracker,
but if what you're looking for is really not in settings it's possible it's an addon

It's not an addon. I only recently started using addons despite having played for years lol. Anyway, I had hints before I started addons.

hints is just one of the quest settings, not every quest has hints though.
