"Year of the Guild" Idea

Been playing through Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests on my Arcanist, and it got me thinking we should have new content come out for all 4 main guilds. This could be one massive zone with separate stories that connect like with the original Fighters Guild Mages Guild or be 4 new smaller areas that focus on each guild. Add some new skills and see some of our favourite characters again.

it would be nice to see some more story content related to those, although i dont know if they need a full dedicated zone
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Even a big update where those guilds have new quests in existing zones would be cool too.

i don't really think they revisit stuff, but a chance for a fifth guild that got its own stuff would be nice, arcanist is kind of already like a cultist to hermaeus mora, why not just a full on cultitst guild at some point?

That our character can be a member of the Morag Tong guild.

I like the idea of a Thieves Guild: Part 2, where we find out more about Quen’s father, who is a Nightingale and we join the order.

I'd love a revisit to the guilds, they have been left behind when I feel like they were a really core component of the single player titles.

A new quest chain for each guild, and a revisit for dailies, would be fun. I'm not sure how they could revamp the skill lines as I feel they're pretty good, but I'd be open to it.

I'd also love more cosmetics related to each guild.

Yes! I love the Mages, Fighters, Thieves and DB guilds. I'd love to see more content for them.

I'm certainly not against the idea of new stories for each guild, but personally, I'd be happy if they just extended the list of possible delve locations for daily quests to include any zone you have access to (like how crafting survey rewards work). I don't need new voice acting from the quest givers, just a billboard accessible from any guildhouse, and some nice new rewards. The premises and tone for the existing ones are good, I'd just like to see more of that.

Perhaps we could get some new Heists and Sacraments? Or maybe some sort of equivalent activity for the Mage and Fighter's Guilds. I like the idea of guild mage "Heists", where you're sent to a Deadlands Portal Gate Tower to steal a Portal Stone, or those winding, shifting labyrinths in Apocrypha to secure Black Books, for instance. Those activities are not only memorable core gameplay experiences from Oblivion and Dragonborn, but its easy to imagine how they could translate quite easily to a Mage-themed "Heist" or "Sacrament", using much of the same mechanics the latters already do.

As a gameplay loop, after all the quests are done, I just want to be a Mage, doing Magey things for the Guild. Like the radiant quests in Skyrim or Oblivion, I just want to pick up quests and wander the land on my way to the objective, and experience all the random things on the way through.

Someone said that the developers think the old guilds are "boring", but I think that the guilds were always about who our characters were, not the guilds so much themselves.

The extra new quests would be so fun- imagine being able to tell them you're a particular type of mage, like a restoration mage, for example. And you get an activity based on your speciality. So perhaps they summon a daedra and you heal yourself through they're attack, or you need to heal a certain amount of points for your fellow players in any content of your choice.

The you return for your reward, and the newer mages are impressed to have learnt something from your skill!

They could also add a small story line in the guilds hall of new zones as they release.
For exemple in necrom we could have had a new db sanctum and a storyline about rivalry between the db and the morag tong. As the direct subordinate to a black hand member it could be easily explained why we now work with another sanctum. The thieve guild could have been to steal some artefact from a magister. The fighters guild could be dealing with one of the deadric faction. As for the mage guild they could be working toward recruiting a magister or a powerful telvani.

These woulnt need to be sequel to their existing and could be new story

When they announced morrowind in 2017 i assumed that as a chapter it would contain new quest for those but it wasnt meant to be.

Idk about a whole year of content, but god knows the Heists and Sacraments could use some new maps with new objectives and rewards. Heck, even the Thieves' Guild main quest had a more interesting heist map than the dailies have, and neither Guild has ever been expanded on since their release besides a lead or two.

I rather have new zone content than this.

I would love this, because the TG and DB stories are two of my favorite storylines in the game. But I think the problem with it is that ZOS wants people to jump into a new zone and start from scratch every time they release a chapter, and quest availability not dependent on having completed other content first.
On the other hand, they are happy to introduce new companions and mythics which also require ownership and completion of other content.

For me, unlocking extra content through quests is something that gives me extra motivation to do those quests - like the third daily quest givers you can unlock in Murkmire and Markarth after you complete the zone story. Others might see that as locking it behind a grind.
