I'm a big fan of the minimalist UI, and really? A chase camera is the deal breaker for you? I might as well quit the game because I'm having trouble getting ingredients for my Fortified Sweetrolls (just the way mom made them).

It's funny, I got into another mmo Alpha and was horrified when I logged in to all the clutter. I have really gotten used to the clean aspect of ESO's UI. I am perplexed why some stuff is missing (namely personal buff's without an addon) by default, but really like most of how it is

The ui gives me a headache. If I could lock down the chase camera I would not get headaches, Games are supposed to be fun (by definition) or they would not be called games. Headaches are not fun...so there you have it. Good luck with your fortified sweetrolls in any case.

After about an hour, the ui gives me a headache and a touch of vertigo. Do a third person view search, and you will see dozens of other players with similar experiences. So the OP probably does not need to see a Doctor. The fanbois we have with us always it seems.

Then maybe OP shouldnt be playing mmos if its giving him medical issues.

Yeah, I play in 3rd person view, and I haven't experienced any adverse medical effects.

See your doctor. Seriously. If you are getting symptoms like this after playing for an hour, that indicates that there is an underlying cause. Staring at a screen all day can definitely fatigue your eyes and cause headaches, but dizziness and vertigo are serious problems.

I get something called simulation sickness (it's a thing, I swear.. and it sucks) pretty easily, to a point where I really can't play FPS games for more than 15-30 minutes at a time without feeling "car sick" for lack of a better word. This game third person view doesn't cause that for me... unless I'm intentionally whipping the camera around fast, which.. well I don't do. There's not really a reason to.

I like the UI, I've always shrunk things down and tried to remove extra clutter, this game has that as the default, and then folks that want more can get addons to make the UI fit their desired style better (just like I had to get tons of addons typically in past games to make mine minimal).

I said I like the game. I like SWTOR's ui better (can play for hours no headaches, np), and that's what I will be playing in the coming months. I am glad you boys defend your game so passionately, but it is not for me. Thanks ESO but no thanks.

Maybe you need to see a doctor too? Coz I play 3rd person and have no problems. And what's fanbois got to do with this thread?? go troll somewhere else

I have an IRL friend that has not logged in for 2 weeks. He tells me that it is due to simulation sickness caused by the lack of camera controls that would allow him to place the camera in a position directly over the character's head, in a near-chase mode.
That said, I would also like to request this option be added to the game. It seems simple enough, and it enhances the game for some, without damaging it for others. Please add this option.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Never been fond of flashing UIs. I literally hated the UI in Rift, as it was always banging on with these flashy messages on the screen, flash messages on the mini map, flashy quest text, flash buttons etc etc etc. Everything sparkled more than a vampire in Twilight. Same with many other MMOs out there, for me it's a dealbreaker when everything is so god dam flashy. I like it clean, slick and just enough information.

I also love that ESO doesn't have any minimap out of the box. I agree very much with Molyneux' philosophy that many RPGs ends up being played from a small section on the top corner of your screen, where you don't see the world but play the game from that minimap. That's why I don't have any minimap addon in ESO, I love to walk around and explore without having a flashy little minimap telling me where to go and what to do. I'm playing an RPG now through the big map - i.e the world itself - and not through a minimap.

So minimalistic UI? Love it. I only have a few clear-ups like % on my XP bar, reposition and tightening of my health/magica/stamina bar and enemy health bar, as well as a very pesky buff addon that tells me about squad diddly of information as I'm a sorcerer and seem to lack buffs that's readable. So I'm going minimalistic, and I love every minute of it.

Off course we understand, this person hates the UI, but guess what I find it refreshing. I am also sorry this person gets sick however, it's not the UI 's fault thousands play this game without getting sick. Maybe, they should seek the advice of a doctor instead of people on a forum.
Play in first person mode, lots of people do it.

I love the UI, during Beta, when I was still playing WoW and the beta weekends were over, I was actually searching for an addon to make the UI similar to ESO`s :D

I don`t even use any % or damage display. I noticed that after all those years in MMOs I forgot to actually watch the action instead of numbers, percentages and statistics.

The difference with SWtOR is that they put unusually high ceilings in everything so the chase camera doesn't have to move. Buildings, caves and such in ESO are more proportionate and therefore need to zoom in while indoors.

I don't see how locking the camera would make it better. If anything it would create it's own problems.

Are we talking about the UI or the HUD? Since the beta these two have been cross referenced and for some reason the term UI has been dubbed to cover both.

The UI (ie.. the menu systems) are almost mirrored form the SkyUI mod for Skyrim. SkyUi and iHUD spoiled most TES followers, myself included. I became accustom to the screen being completely void of anything besides the target enemy health and the character M/H/S.

Having a minimal HUD and reacting to the gameworld is by far a better experience for me.

As far as people getting headaches, it's form the affixed depth of field. It's not an uncommon issue. If I switch to 1stP while moving It disorients me for a second. This is only mild while some people suffer more intensely form it. Adjusting the DoF to suit the individual is almost always the solution.

That's because the HUD is a component of the UI. Gamers prefer to use the acronym HUD to distinguish a portion of a UI that provides information to the user. However, most HUDs have functionality that allow you to interact with them which makes the HUD...gasp...a user interface.

Leave it up to gamers to make something more complicated than it really is.

those having issues with headaches in 3rd person view it is a type of motion sickness, It is not the games fault it is sadly how the camera is positioned. for most this does not effect any but for some like my friend they get a bad headache after 30 mins or so unless playing in first person. because there is less to monitor such as your own character and such.

I love the minimalistic UI, one can add almost any information they like via addons if they like.

What comes to motion sickness it's usually caused by field of view in the game and I think they are adding this setting to the game. What I highly doubt that ability to change from over the shoulder view to over the head view would make any difference to this.
