Anyone noticed this in zone chat recently?

I've only started seeing this spam since they gave the game away for free on Epic.

You need to cover up the names in that screen shot, naming is not allowed on forums.

Yes, quite frequent. Especially annoying that they sell crowns for money. The regional pricing policy has been implemented so well that it has given rise to an entire secondary market of crown reselling. It's clear that a solution is needed.

Well, it isn't surprising in the slightest.
People were easily able to make dozens and dozens of throwaway spam accounts when the game was being given away for free.

Yeah there was a thread the other day talking about his exact same issue - I see them all the time in the starter zones but it's like trying to slay a hydra; more of them are coming.

@ZOS_Kevin might be worth to investigate further as they keep popping up in zone chat no matter how many of them get reported 😅

Meh, they're not even real players. I saw one. They're freshly made for trying to sell gold/scam/phishing. Probably bots. And you call that a name? More like gibberish.

Hopefully not too many of these took advantage of the game being free on Epic and over time they're purged from the land!

Now let's hope the game never goes F2P or these gold sellers and bots will spread like a plague.

I see them on PS/NA in zone chat. They keep showing up every few days with a different name, advertising the same web site.

Doing it on Xbox NA more frequent now. I’m sure the game being free on epic didn’t help but still isn’t exactly free on console…yet.

I started seeing that add in zone chat maybe a month before the Epic giveaway, so the root cause is not that. Can't see why RMT bozoes wouldn't take advantage of the free accounts, but they were active before. PC/NA

Report them when you see them and they'll eventually run out of free accounts. At least until the next promotion.

I block them gold selling bots and their AI generated messages. Then I turn off zone chat and report them for "spamming the chat".

Also to keep your account safe; I recommend not clicking on or going to any website links that the gold sellers give out.

I've seen gold sellers in lots of other online games and I can agree that they are annoying.

I report them as Bad language / Spam with "Gold seller" as info. Because spam is what they do. I'd expect accounts doing the actual gold delivery are not spamming so ZOS/whoever has to find and ban gold traffickers and gold buyers by themself.

PC EU: Didn't see even one goldseller for years, and now with the free account promotion, chat is full of them. Please moderate chat during free account promotions!

Goldsellers make a game look really bad.

PS: And there isn't a fast & easy way to report these goldsellers. We should be able to rightclick their name in chat -> Report goldseller -> done.

Nothing to do with the free copy of the game from Epic, they have been around for a long time. If you have never seen them before now then count yourself blessed.

ZOS, if you want our help with gold and crown sellers, do something like suggested above. On PS/NA, I end up taking a picture of the screen with my phone, copying the text from the picture into the report, and then attaching the picture to my email reply to your email support ticket.

Oh, and the same gold and crown seller that I reported several days ago was back on PS/NA zone chat with a slightly different username last night, advertising the same web site for gold and crowns.

Nobody is saying Gold Sellers are explicitly because of Epic.
The fact is giving the game away for free in any capacity does make it a lot easier to make a ton of spam accounts which people use to bot the game. Just look at all the games that are free to play or are free to play up to a certain level. Those chats are absolutely FLOODED with their own Gold Sellers. It just definitely didn't help on PC.

On pc eu I’ve hardly ever encountered these for years. Since the free trial I’ve got about 20 people on ignore from reporting I’ve had to do. That’s all from vvardenfell just doing my writs each day.

Really annoying and something they need to get wiped out again.

Can’t say for sure. But I’ve done writs in the same location for years and not had any. Now all of a sudden there’s multiple each day. This has tied in directly with the free epic launch. It’s not definitive but certainly a strong coincidence at least

Now it's more likely that genuine players with fat wallets will try out the game and walk away after seeing all that spam. I'd definitely be thinking, 'well these devs just don't care at all.' Quick enough to do anything that will make them money but absolutely bone idle when it comes to dealing with something that affects a players enjoyment of the game.

They'd rather enforce stupid forum rules thereby sheltering the perpetrator instead of actually lifting a finger and dealing with the real problems.

I report them but I don't think it does anything. Is there a Crown Store service that offers 'Actual Customer Service' for 5k crowns that I'm missing?

Depends on whether it was a transaction with the legitimate Crown Store or whether you got cheated by a player. If it's Crown Store, you submit a ticket and they resolve it. If it's a side transaction with a player all you can do is report them and send a ticket with all the details. Don't expect the Company to reimburse you for an action/transaction they did not sanction.

Needed to be a stipulation like with how Guild Wars 2 does it... if you don't have a paid version of the game you shouldn't be able to whisper or use zone chat. You should need to buy the base game or the current latest expansion if you acquired the game for free in order to use those functions.

I report using: Ask For Help/Report Player/Bad Actions/Scamming

I would like to see ZOS add a new category under "Bad Actions":
- Gold Selling/Gold Laundering

Can't have Gold Sellers without also having a means to transfer gold. I have read that ESO already monitors for gold transfers via: (1) Mail, and (2) player-to-player Trades. But what about gold transfers via "gold laundering" through a Guild Store? In the past, I have reported players for obvious gold laundering (to both ZOS and to their guild master), but the guilty players continue gold laundering . . . day after day, week after week, month after month.

Perhaps if we had a "Gold Selling/Gold Laundering" report category (and if more of us made the effort to submit Reports) we could reduce gold-selling in Tamriel.
