Way of Fire - Weapon damage?

Hello,

5pc Way of Fire says:
When you deal damage with a weapon, you deal an additional 571 Flame damage. This effect can occur once every 2 seconds and scales off the higher of your Weapon or Spell Damage.

Does that mean a Resto Staff will get extra fire damage?
What about a Shield Bash?
Heavy attack?

Any weapon? Heavy attack?

Yes, so any attack that uses a weapon will get the bonus damage (once every 2 seconds).

    This includes:
    - Light/heavy attacks with weapons.
    - Any ability from the weapon skill lines that deals damage.
    - I believe bash attacks also get the bonus damage as they do also proc equipped poisons (but this would need confirmation).

Jewelry + weapon and you’re set.

For PvP or PvE? In PvE you're better off with Order's Wrath generally speaking. For PvP it'd depend on your build I suppose, but I believe it's definitely decent if you use (for example) Rending Slashes.

Wouldn't this set work with Orders's (2xpc) and get a crit when Way of Fire Triggers?

Unless you're pimping the interaction with weapon skill dots, Ashen grip is better in every way except for the cool down.

That's true, but it means it takes longer to find the specific pieces. Especially the weapon with the right trait.

I like using crafted sets for weapons, if I can.

If you use DW or Bow just use Rending or PI and Way of Fire easily outperforms Ashen Grip all the time.

In PvE other than normal dungeons the proc damage is rather mediocre. In PvP is pretty decent even if you don't use it with weapons skills, just light attack weaving gives enough pressure to add some meaningful burst to your combo. It's like having extra flame glyph that activates every 2s. I like to use it with Crystal Weapon on a Sorc.

This is a strong PVP set in no-CP setups like BGs. I would not use it in PVE.

I'm using it in a campaign... CP and just beatings.
Battle Spirit the double edged sword changes it up a lot...

Way of Fire with a Fire Staff... Just redundant?
