That just punishes us who are leveling alts who craft as well, and will be getting them to vr 10 as well. Horrible, horrible idea. Why are you jealous if someone gets crafting mats? Its not like they bring you very much.I have an idea that may prevent what is, in my opinion, taking advantage of the hireling skill in the crafting skill trees.
Right now, people are creating low level toons just to train their crafting so they can put points into hirelings & get multiple "chests" a day. I believe that the hireling chest received should be account wide. Therefore, an account can only receive one crafting chest from a hireling every cycle, rather then each character receiving one.

If all 8 of my characters used metal armor or weapons then they all would have smithing because all my characters are self sufficient. Like I said the idea is a bit extreme, akin to amputating an arm over a splinter.Ragnar_Lodbrok wrote: »That just punishes us who are leveling alts who craft as well, and will be getting them to vr 10 as well. When you have 8 characters getting a chest day, it adds up to a very lot. If that was the Devs plan all along, then that's fine. But it seems wrong to me. And why do you need 8 characters with smithy? That doesn't make much sense.
FYI, just yesterday I got two Tempering Alloys from a chest.

@Catches_the_Sun, please link. Last I knew, the devs removed a video depicting the process and said they were investigating it.
I think the op's proposed change would be harsh. Two changes would stop farming hirelings in this fashion and not change game play for people using hirelings as intended.
-Make hireling loot character bound or calculate hireling loot when box is created, not when character opens it.
-Lower the chances of legendary and possibly epic items from 1/3 hirelings only or base the epic and legendary drop rate from hirelings on craft level.
These 2 things would kill the hireling farm, yet leave people using hirelings as intended largely unaffected.
