Anyone else tremendously frustrated with the "guildmate" requirement for the event?

Screw the guild mate requirement, I am miffed about the fact that you can only get ONE box total per account per day for your crafting dalies, last year it was 1 box per crafting daliy per character, meaning you would get 7, not 1.

I mean come on it's meant to be an event of the god of WORK and commerce, the provider of our ease as it were, so why was the main work aspect of it nerfed into the ground, eh?

I know I'm being pedantic but you can do a master writ from all seven crafts everyday and one daily crafting writ plus the ticket quest.

Not hugely better but nine instead of three. :)

Daily quest can just go shopping. I spend 10,000 gold to end my worries

I'm in 5 guilds but I'm on Xbox and can't be bothered to type. I occasionally say hello

I use the guilds to jump to different guild members if they are somewhere interesting, and to sell goods when they have a trader.

Maybe my next step is to play a single player game.

I mean seriously yeah i have some mates to do it with periodically but i cant get literally any by myself beyond the 2 writ ones and the main. That basically ruined the event for me. Me and my buds all have full time jobs and arent always able to be on at the same time. When we are it sucks away all the other time from other things we want to do.... like zero solo play.

My bigger issue is being unable to login to the game. Having a guildie is a breeze in comparison ( provided they login as well )

The guild I'm in has hosted a few events at 8:00 pm eastern here or there, but... well, people always look for the path of least resistance and maximum gain.

So, this "group with a guildie!!!" event didn't result in me running with the homies and doing a wide slew of neat stuff. We camped a Harrowstorm for an hour. The Harrowstorms reset so fast that we didn't need to move and each was over in 22 to 30 seconds with guaranteed loot. Very efficient. Exceedingly dull.

People grumbled. They complained. "This was boring last year and it's even more boring this year." So we went to dragons in Southern Elsweyr. The group leader quickly realized that:

    - Dragons died so fast that chasing them was a bad call. Bunker down in the north or the south. CHOOSE ONE.
    - Even with 10 of us hitting it, we only got Zenithar boxes 1 out of every 2 times for some reason. It was unreliable.
    - Harrowstorms reset faster. More boxes in less time, and with the ABYSMAL drop rates of style pages, you need sheer volume to counter the RNG.

And back to Harrowstorms we went. :-/

I met a few guildies that were nice, but I'll probably never wind up grouping with them again (until next year's harrowstorms) and I have no idea who they are because their group names were their character names but their guild chat names were their account names.

This event has been profoundly disappointing and tedious. I've just been incredulous. Ironically, the daily writ spamming of the last Zenithar event sheltered me from this. I was able to churn out a huge amount of daily crafting writs per day, so I didn't need to do any guild stuff. Never experienced the tedium at all. Also, so many people did the writ spamming that the style pages flooded the market and brought prices down. It was a pleasant, innocent little event. Also felt like something Zenithar would love. As in, armies of toiling workers pounding away at anvils and shaping wood. Not people on lawn-chairs waiting for another easily dispatched, quick vampire tornado. "Blood for the... God of commerce!? Skulls for his... golden-hued anvil?"

Now it's grindy and miserable. So much so that I've given up on it, by and large. I run the one daily on my five characters, do a daily crafting writ, hope the RNG grants me a single page from it all, and then buy a page from a random guild trader. 7 out of 16 done as of day 4, with 3 earned and 4 purchased. Just want to get this over with and not have to look at it again until next year. This event seems designed just to pad out the revenues of trading guilds who can field dozens of Harrowstorm participants for multiple hours each day.

But yeah, there's my ray of positivity. :-P Sorry, haha.

As with all events, no one is forced to do anything, you either participate or you don't, and even though some activities may not cater to one's playstyle, having variety can only be good thing. The only part of the event that sucks is that they added more pages than usual, and the pages are not a guaranteed drop from the first golden coffer of the day, if they remedied that, the event would have been much better.

This wasn't presented as a guild friendship event so I don't know why this requirement was established.

I've been lucky that my guild is forming groups for World Bosses and events so it's been easy enough to get a group if I wish. But what about those that aren't in guilds, or are just uncomfortable in social situations?

There needs to be alternative ways to get boxes for these players.

My husband and I have been playing together and are apart of the same guilds, but so far I haven't seen really any benefit to this event. We did the Dragonstar Arena hoping to level up our new companions. They didn't level that much and we barely got the purple chests. The only thing I'm getting is a crap ton of recipes. I haven't seen many praxis/furnishings etc. Other than the wayshrines costing less, I just haven't seen much going on. Unless I missed something by not taking advantage.

I liked the event where we got a ton of items just by doing our writs, defeating world bosses, etc. Just seemed you always had people around to help out.

Not every event is built to cater to every player.

The dungeon event allows you to farm delve dailies and normal fungal grotto is soloable by much of the playerbase. So much so there's a joke about it added to the quest dialogue of the event. So, it does not require grouping.

The PvP event has dailies that can be used to get tickets that don't require killing other players.

Most of the events have reasonable accomodations for players who want to participate but don't necessarily enjoy the main activity. It tends to be not as rewarding as the main activity, but gives rewards at a reasonable enough alternative pace.

My guilds are running groups but I find it entirely reasonable that people want an alternative of equal quality as the alternatives in other events.

Yeah limiting the solo work element did deprive this event of it's Zenithar flavor, to be quite honest

Apples and oranges. Both those you can do by yourself or together, being in group is not required. Soloing a normal dungeon is par for a lot of solo players and even then you have dungeon finder. No commitment. You dont NEED anyone to do it. This you are literally required to rope a guildmate into it if you are even in a guild at all. This is not like a group with friends thing. I got friends in other guilds that i cant even do the damn event with. Its arbitrary nonsense.

There’s also a lot of limitations to grouping with guild members when half of the guild members that would normally be online are stuck in a queue.

Grouping is one thing, grouping with guild members is a limitation within a limitation.

No.... not really. I made the choice to ignore guilds in this game (for my own good and sufficieht reasons). So.... it is what it is - honestly, the "rewards".... fit the old saw "the game is not worth the candle".

Zenithar is the deity of wealth, labor, commerce, and communication. I guess the guild group requirement is supposed to represent communication, but monster slaying definitely should not prevail over labor (crafting) during Zenithar event. This year, rewards from crafting are limited while rewards from world bosses are unlimited, making it feel more like Undaunted festival. Remember, "his priests have shown that the way to peace and prosperity is through earnest work and honest profit, not through war and bloodshed".

All master writs should provide a reward box, like it was during the previous festival.

The whole event is pretty much a waste of a good opportunity. The boxes drop crap, but at least last year it felt fun doing writs and getting the boxes of utter crap.

I think that devs don't understand that the whole point of a game is to have fun. This is NOT a fun event now.

I just do the daily quest for tickets and then, whatever I can get for crafting. I'm more annoyed by only getting boxes from one master writ per craft, because I have a whole bunch of blacksmithing, but as a solo player I'm not a fan of the guild restrictions.

It fits the story to me. Medieval Europe had many workers guilds (that alot of high fantasy is based from). Weavers guilds, masons guilds, tailors guilds and so on. Getting rewards for working with your guild makes sense to me. As there isn't really a way to share the completion of some crafting, sharing in the defeat of a world boss or delve is something that can be recognised programatically
