Lost companion gear, again.

Maintenance is over and it rerolled my companion gear to white. My Fiancé has lost her green and blue companion gear for the third time now. Imagine the sheer amount of gold blue HP and ult recovery rings sell for. It is outrageous that this keeps happening, on my end my gear was still in order and I was happy this morning to see almost full blue gear and now after the maintenance it's all back to trash white besides the weapon which hasn't changed.
Companions were the main focus of Blackwood and I don't even dislike them, they're a fun and nice addition to ESO but these kinds of bugs are a joke.
I didn't see enough forum threads about this so I had to make a new one.

I have been refraining from re-equipping my companions just in case.

I will keep doing so until we get some clarity.

This is why I have not been equipping my companion with gear drops. I have like 10 items sitting in my inventory, from the little farm time that I've been doing.

So, you logged on and your companion was reset with white gear or did you go and replace a companion with white gear after you logged on to find it was with out gear at all?

Don't keep equipping your companions until this is resolved fully.

Use the ingame issue reporting tool to make a ticket to get your gear back.

Not sure what players are doing... but I have yet to lose any gear. One thing I've started doing is always dismissing them before logging off... I wonder if having them summoned on other characters when you log off is causing a problem... because when I log in they will auto-summon if I logged out with them summoned. So it could be a problem with them being summoned on one character, then logging in and having them auto-summoned on another. Just a thought. I also do not, and never will, use a dungeon queuing system... and I've read that many players who are using the queue system are the ones losing their gear.

I have yet to log into the game today to see if everyone still has their gear equipped... but I've been running with Mirri having the purple aggressive ring and it's still there after days of playing. I also have both equipped with several green and blue items which, again for me, has never been lost.

The issue seems to be that when you find a companion on more than one character, the first character equips gear on the companion, then you switch to a second character, equip different gear, when you switch back to the first the game replaces the gear with the originally equipped gear

I have 2 characters with companions, one with bastian and the other one with mirri and so far I have only lost items on Mirri.

Basically yes, this morning I was happy to see almost full blue gear and was hoping to find a blue bow to finish the collection, now after maintenance the jewelry has vanished into thin air and all the armor pieces are back to white.

Aso worth mentioning: Nothing unusual has been done with the companions, they've been summoned for pub dungeons overland content and then when I did dungeons I've used other character which don't even have companions unlocked.

I hope that ticket may offer at least some explanations or even a compensation for the lost items which are worth a fat chunk of gold.

OH... I did notice the other day... Bastian said he had 2x Light and 5x Medium... I switched to Mirri and it still said 2x Light and 5x Medium even though she was wearing 7x Medium!! @ZOS_GinaBruno There seems to be a problem with the game recognizing Mirri and Bastian as two SEPARATE characters... and seems to want to pull gear info from one over to the other- instead of keeping them separate.

I have not had a problem with losing gear but I also don't frequently switch between the two after equipping gear... usually if I equip new gear I run around with them awhile first before switching to the other companion. So perhaps there is a time delay on the server between saving gear data when equipping new items?

If that was the case it wouldn't explain why my Mirri still has her bow I've dropped roughly 12 hours and all her older items are gone meanwhile the 2H blue maul my fiancé has dropped about 15 hours has turned into air as well along all her items. I'm not here to guess what could cause those issues, I'm not getting paid for that. I'm here to point towards a problem which affects peoples possessions in paid content.

no, the issue is say you have bastion equipped with all heavy, then you switch to an alt, and then equip him with all light, then switch back to the first character, he reverts to all heavy again. But I tested it out and it seems you were correct that dismissing the character before log out seems to prevent this. There must be some save to database function that is not working when you leave the companion summoned on a logout.

Yes I know this thread is two years old, but same issue...
My new Arcanist (level 32) is the only character to have 'Sharp-as-Night' as a companion. I was swapping companion equipment to equip 'Sharp-as-Night' with five medium armour. When I logged in to the Arcanist again, 'Sharp-as-Night' had lost all his jewelry. Neck was listed under accessories but nothing equipped, and no rings at all, which were blue items.
So this has not been resolved after two years?
It's bad enough leveling from scratch, again.
