If you spend time in ESO-related Discord servers or here on the forums, you already know what I'm talking about. Every day we help out someone who finds themselves with console-looking UI, unable to use their mouse, unable to select race in Character Creation, unable to use the Quickslot menu and so on and so forth. Almost all UI questions in ESO come down to Accessibility mode, however it is important that it is offered to all players so that those who need it can activate it right away.
Trying it out myself, I found that it's not as easy to click past as it used to (or I have phantom memories of it being a bit
too accessible) - you have to click R, then select options and click X. So, not a problem of players mindlessly mashing E. But! Accessibility Mode prompt mentions
Voice Chat, which, as far as I know, is actually just chat
narration, but is overwhelmingly misunderstood by new players as true voice chat and they turn on Acc. Mode thinking it offers extra options.
Possible solution:
Reword the Acc.Mode prompt, like so:
"Accessibility Mode allows the use of settings such as Screen and Chat Narration, as well as alternative menu navigation. Enabling Accessibility Mode forces use of the Gamepad UI."
I realize that wording has to be very precise here and I don't know the rules, but my limited evidence shows that the current mention of "Voice Chat [Accessibility]" is leading a lot of people astray, as they only read the first few words of the prompt
This is, imho, a totally user-induced problem and I feel bad complaining about it, but it's just one blip that could possibly be fixed with different wording and would reduce the amount of questions Support and we players receive on the daily
I made a little video compiling my evidence
