I was using godsend to send out the guild mail, i've done this many times before and had no issues, however about 40-50 of the mail in (i have to mail 500 members) it suddenly stopped and said "sending mail currently disabled" so then I had a friend whisper me and when I whispered back they saw nothing, and ALSO I wasn't able to trade with anyone, if i did, it says "Trading currently disabled" I was shocked, i've used this addon many times before and never had this happen.

That sounds like a social ban. Those can happen if the server sees you sending too many requests at once (like if you send loads of mails too soon behind one another).

You may want to check the ESOUI page for that addon. Most guild mail addons will incorporate delays to prevent that, and it may mean that a recent update to that addon got rid of the delay or the delay they add is too short to get past ESO's servers. Looking at the page for that specific addon, it seems like the last few comments are all about users getting hit with social bans. You may need to look for a new guild mail addon.

I thought the game supported addons, that's strange that they would suddenly penalize people using an addon that worked just fine before.

That's why I never use addons. I like what the game already has.

it's a very necessary tool since they don't/won't put it in the base game.

Add-ons are allowed but not officially supported, as in ZOS takes no responsibility for keeping them up to date or fixing them if they cause crashes (provided it is not a bug on ZOS’s end) or perform actions that trip automated detection systems and incur bans like this. They expect add-on authors and users to respect the limits that they set and to keep up to date with any changes they make to those limits.

This is not designed to penalize players for using add-ons. It is to protect the server, much like how you can get kicked for spam in high-APM situations (independent of add-ons even) if the connection lags and your commands hit the server all at once. The game doesn’t know that you weren’t trying to overwhelm it; it only knows that its limits have been tripped and responds accordingly. In this case the social ban gets implemented so you don’t just try again with the guild mails and the issue repeats. I would second the suggestion above that a different add-on should be able to serve your purpose without incurring a ban, since it is not a ban for using an add-on but for how this particular add-on is (mis)behaving.

It wasn't causing an issue until their most recent patch, so I don't think it's the fault of the addon. I hope ZOS will create their own guild mail system so we dont' have to use addons for it, the reason they exist is because the game doesn't provide it in the first place, and they desparately need it.

there is a lot of time popular addons get incorporated into the base game in some way

but like others said the addon is just automating mass mailing, which if the delay between mails is too short, the server would see it as spamming (the server itself has no way to tell if it was a "legitimate" use of mass mailing since the addon only runs on your UI)

also like others suggest i would recommend finding another addon, or posting about the bug in the addons esoui page so they know its an issue
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

The game supports add-ons in that it permits add-ons. Zenimax does not support or take any responsibility for what the addons do as that is out of their control. The game limits how often our clients, including add-ons, can ping the server. If something happens where an addon pings the server too frequently a social ban will occur.

The responsibility for this lies at the feet of the player in such a case. There may be settings within the addon you are using and there may be factors outside of the addon that caused the social ban to trigger.

I suggest opening a ticket to see if you can get the social ban removed. After creating the ticket update this thread and include your ticket number. Then tag the Zenimax people like Bill.

    Good luck.
