Best Mage Class Roles

I am rekindling my love for this game and would like to create a mage type class (Sorcerer, Templar, Warden, Necromancer, or Arcanist) for each aspect of the game I enjoy. In the past I would just reset the skills and champ points on the same character each time I wanted to switch my focus so I'm trying to make things more convenient for myself so that I can actually create good quality characters. Ideally I would like to use a different class for each role.

the roles are:
- solo PvP
- PvP healer
- solo questing
- Dungeon/Trials Healer

Thank you in advance for any and all advice! <3

FYI if you use Armory Station, you can have multiple builds for each of your mentioned roles on one character.

Yes, it could be more fun and diverse to play different class for different roles, but wanted to throw this out there just in case you didn't know.

Please take my rating with a grain of salt as I don't know much about healing nor PvP, but seeing as nobody else has answered I'd go with:
    • Solo PvP - Arcanist
    • PvP healer - Templar
    • Solo questing - Sorcerer if you like pets or a Heavy Attack build, otherwise Necromancer
    • Dungeon/Trials Healer - Warden

    Healer roles
I believe most Trial groups generally have at least one Warden healer and after googling a bit I found some people saying a Templar is a pretty good healer in PvP. A Warden healer might be a bit better overall in PvP too, but a Templar still seems to be good.

    Solo PvP
While I don't PvP much I used my Arcanist in Imperial City and Battlegrounds during MYM and quite liked it. I was specced into Stamina though and I haven't tried a Magicka Arcanist in PvP. Before I leveled my Arcanist I used my Frost Warden for my Daily Battleground and it did okay too, though a Stamina Warden seems to be better for PvP.

    Solo questing
For solo arenas, soloing DLC World Bosses and stuff like that I prefer my Sorcerer over my Magcro (though I prefer my Arcanist over both of them). If its really just questing, I'd go with whatever class interests you most.

Honestly, the best classes for SOLO PvP are Nightblade and Dragonknight... I wonder why you excluded them? 🤔

Anyways. As a warden you will always get a place as Trial Healer.
I would heal in PvP with a Breton Templar. But I am not that familiar with PvP healing anymore.

Solo Questing is really up to you.
The MagSorc combines the Mage fantasy with the survivability to engage difficult enemies on your own. So does the MagPlar, but it is more of a magic using knight kind of fantasy.
I say that because for solo questing it is the fun and the character that is most important. And it should fit your vision/fantasy of your character.
It should be both consistant and flexible. You do not want to get bored along the way. And the "questing way" is long. Very long.
I am fascinated how good the MagArc works in SOLO PvE. And I am pondering switching my main to Arcanist from Nightblade.

I would also not invest time into any kind of Necromancer, right now. It is a bad tine for Necros. They are Okay to Good DPS in trials, but tanking and healing is difficult due to all the corpse mechanics.
And all Necros have a hard time sustaining. Compared to other classes, at least.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Arcanist seems to be doing well in solo pvp, though dk & nightblade are clearly at the top.

What Zodiark said. If you're looking for solo PVP and PVP healing, magblades are the thing right now. And it would also be good for solo questing, as cloak would help you blaze through any stealth missions. The only thing it wouldn't really be desireable for (as far as I am aware) is Trial healing, as trials tend to lean more towards warden and necro healers for group buffs
