Twitch Drop crates are becoming a sad joke

Really, ZOS? You "give" us drop crates, and don't bother to even guarantee a mildly chance to get at least a Superior reward?

My last 4 twitch drop crates I got potions, poisons and... some Gold Coast useless stuff. C'mon! [snip]

Crown Crates are, for sure, a huge source of profit so why don't be a little more generous and allow us a tiny spec of happiness for free?

Jeez... :/

The Twitch crates are a unique sort and not compareable to the sold ones. They only contain "trash" you turn into gems and 1 pet and 1 mount. That's it. They are pretty much only for you to get some gems.

They are basically giving people 5 or so crown gems for watching ESO streams. But just handing everybody 5 crown gems is kind of dull. So they put them in a special class of crates that are essentially 5 gems + a very tiny chance at a vanity pet. That accomplishes about the same thing as handing you 5 crown gems, but with a little more excitement.

Usually I convert what I get in the drop crates to 4 gems, which I hold on to until I have enough to get something I want. I have been watching ESO streamers occasionally for a few years, so I already have the drop crate mount and pet.

I would not watch a stream just for the drop crates, IMO.

The purpose of the drops is to encourage people to support the ESO community in promoting content. In exchange for adding to the viewer count and watching gameplay, and possibly interacting with community members, we get a few consumables that can be exchanged for gems.

Over the long haul you can accrue enough gems to get something really good. Just for watching streams.

In the years I've been playing this game I do not recall a single time when I got anything other than useless potions, poisons, or mount riding lessons from the Ouroboros crates. So get used to disappointment with those creates haha. They're pretty much just a small income of gems to me.

These crates contain only consumables and two Apex rewards, a pet and a mount. Essentially, aside from the mount and pet, they contain only what would be chaff in other crates.

It's all just RNG. Most of the time you get stuff that can be turned into a total of 4 or 5 Crown Gems, occasionally you get an item that can be turned into maybe 30 Crown Gems, and once in a blue moon you get an item that can be turned into more than 100 Crown Gems.

Case in point, this week I got 3 free Crown Crates-- from the ESO Live stream, from the Stream Team PTS U39 streams, and from other ESO streamers' PTS U39 streams.

On PC EU I got about 12 or so Crown Gems out of the 3 crates.

On PC NA I got the Senche Cub of Scarlet Regret-- which I already have (and which came from a free Crown Crate)-- so I got over 100 Crown Gems for it.

    Just RNG.

Trying to look on the bright side here: You get the same crate on your EU and NA account.
So I opened those boxes on NA for fun (don't really play there). Ofcourse I got the pet twice...

Have not been so lucky on the EU side...Oh you damn RNG

But hey, as previous people mentioned: look at it as free gems!

The drop chance for the pet and mount are really low, so if you get them, that is just an added bonus.
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

They're free, so what do you expect. Most of the stuff is low grade gem fodder, but the crates drop fairly often so it adds up. If you're lucky you can hit the jackpot and get the pet which is worth 100+ gems. I don't buy crates at all, all of my gems come from Twitch drops and I've been able to get more items with them than with seals of endeavour.

I don't get the loot boxes in any online games. I only purchase stuff from the in-game shop (to get what I want or need).

It's easier to buy the certain amount of the in-game shop currency in order to get the cosmetic items desired instead of gambling on full RNG loot boxes.

In my opinion: games like elderscrolls, world of warcraft, league of legends, and guild wars 2; have no use for loot boxes when there is already a very large selection of very awesome and useful stuff in the in-game shop (there's something for everyone there). Those games make most of their money off of the in-game shop and or subscription😺👍.

Games like valorant, over watch, others similar; have a decent look box system for pvp experience progression rewards (there are 5 that can be opened, looted, and collected) that contain both useful, new, legacy, and useless items. These games don't have much of an in-game shop and no subscription. They also have many types of purchasable loot boxes instead.

Also loot boxes is a common marketing gimmick for many online games.

Thank gosh the loot boxes are not required to buy in order to play the game and/or get awesome stuff.

    I don't have a twitch account 😁.

I would watch Matygon and some of the other streamers anyway so I see the crates as a bonus, I don't have any expectations. I've gotten the pet twice and it's a nice reward for sure.

It’s free, so I expect nothing and was pleasantly surprised when I got the mount a while ago.

The only issue I have is that half of the time I get an error when trying to claim…

I've never bought a single crate-- well, aside from gifting event tickets to another player one year and getting crates in return, which is pretty much like buying crates.

Over the years that I've received free crates for watching ESO Live and streamers playing ESO on Twitch, I've typically received only low-cost rewards that convert to 4 or 5 gems, but over the years I've been able to use those gems to get several 16-gem pets that I wouldn't have otherwise.

I've also gotten lucky and have received both the Senche of Scarlet Regret mount and the Senche Cub of Scarlet Regret pet-- on both servers no less, PC NA and PC EU.

So the Twitch drops seem pretty nice to me. Most of the time you don't get much, but the free gems do add up, and once in a while you can strike it lucky.

Thank you for the free crates, ZOS! :)

Probably the simple LOGIC behind all of this:
Less free stuff means more Crown sales.

I highly doubt the twitch drops have affected crown crate sales in anyway whatsoever considering how long it takes to get anything decent from gems

And aren't those new endeavours going to be mixed with the existing ones. I imagine they are all up at once on the PTS to test them out

I find it much more annoying that the crown crates you pay money for now only contain junk. How can it be that the "best" you get with 4 boxes is a "blue" card?!

    [snip]

Typically multiple endeavors per day right now can require DLC, e.g. opening Thieves Troves, completing Black Sacraments/Heists, using the Blade of Woe, excavating antiquities, etc. I want to say I usually see up to 2 of the 5 dailies requiring DLC. (Today’s surprises me in that is has none.) One of the weeklies may also require DLC, as it does this week. I don’t recall ever seeing a case where you have to own DLC (not counting Vvardenfell) to get your 3 dailies and 1 weekly, but having more content gives you new options.

In that screenshot, Moon Hunter Keep and Oblivion portals are the paywalled options. Halls is part of the Vvardenfell entitlement, which has now been granted to everyone and is being granted with all new purchases going forward.

My greater concern with the endeavors in that screenshot is the increased specificity, increased time requirements, and decreased variety in types of activities. I suspect that’s for the Undaunted event, but even so I’d be concerned it will make people who don’t like dungeons or trials feel excluded from the endeavor system as well as from the event. They already offer incentives for the event with tickets and other rewards. They don’t need to make the endeavor system more of a stick to the event’s carrot.

There is an earlier comment regarding those endeavors. ZOS are just testing new ones. If they are added they are not going to look like that daily, but be mixed in with the ones we already can get.

They miss the mark completely when it comes to these crate giveaways. They SHOULD contain something special in them, to entice the player into purchasing more.

I swear they do some of the most backwards things far too often.
