Is it just me or is tying Achievements into zone stories on new expansions a pain?

Ok here is my gripe. I start a new character on new expansions whenever there are new classes etc. For Necrom there is the "Play the Paramount Achievement which requires you to defeat Grand Master Bolm Tales Of Tribute. On my new toon who has completed the zone story he does not show up. My new toon of course has not played Tales of Tribute yet. SO I then log on one of my other toons who has max in tales of tribute and he shows up and you can interact with him but will not give the quest.

Apparently you have to complete the zone story quest "An Unhealthy Fate" in order for him to provide the quest. This quest is about halfway down the zone story.

So I can either get my new toon up to par in tales of tribute OR get my old toon to run the LONGEST zone story in history. This type of thing started a few expansions earlier and it is a pain. Having to run things on alternate toons to access quests and such. It's aggravating.

Just make it so achievements do not require zone stories to be ran please. Sigh.

That doesn’t make much sense really. Zone stories are a big part of each zone so it makes sense there is achievements for it

i suggest doing zone stories with one character
they're more fun when your character has history with returning characters anyways

I already have played through the entire zone story on my new character. Now I'll need to play another two hours or so on an older character just to get Bolm to compete with me for the Play the Paramount Achievement. OR I can level up my new character in Tales of Tribute which takes even longer sigh.

We already have AwA, if they decided that zone quests were completed account wide once one toon does it then I would quit the game. I think this is a really niche gripe and I am always against petitions for changes over "this specific thing doesn't work for me specifically".

It's two hours. It's an MMO. Obviously if your character hasn't even entered Necrom they won't have everything available to them.

Your Tales of Tribute rank and cards are account-wide. There is no functional difference playing against Armiger Bolms on your new character versus your other character.

achievements being tied to main story has been there since the beginning of the game, the harborage story has its own achievements even

Hmm I wonder why Bolm will not even appear to my new toon (level 22, but only appears to the one character I use for Tales of Tributes?

on other toons you still have to do the tribute tutorial, and i think some fo the story quests to unlock tribute dailies, even if your at max tribute rank

Yes, you still need to complete "Tales of Tribute" to unlock the ability to play Tribute on that character and "A New Venture" to unlock Tribute dailies.

You can skip the vast majority of the first quest by telling Razhamad you know how to play, and the second is pretty short and is mostly just talking with one match against a novice NPC.

Ok that was correct. I went and completed the ToT tutorial from Bragas in Gondalin Bay and now Master Bolm allowed my new toon to start the achievement.

i think the other requirement that the new master has is having completed the necrom main story, because it took me awhile to figure out why he wouldnt play me while i was on my main who i do most all the tribute stuff with lol

Actually, in order to get the achievement “play the paramount”, you simply just have to find him, play ToT with him and defeat him. There're no quests or whatever about that. Though I haven't checked if there's any condition for him to accept your challenge.

the new master in necrom would definitely not play me at all until i finished the main story, even though i had all of the decks including the new one unlocked and was max tribute rank

Nope, you have to have completed the zone story quest "An Unhealthy Fate" in order for him to provide the quest. He does appear he just won't give it to you. And you also have to have completed the Tales of Tribute introductory quest in High Isle. I logged in several toons and the only one that could even see him was the toon I use to play Tales of Tribute with and that character had not done any of the Necrom zone story quests. Mr. I won't even be seen with you Master Bolm would interact with him but would notoffer to play ToT with him. I could not even see him on my new Necrom character. Then I did the Tales of Tribute quest and went back and my new toon could see him and he was given the option to play ToT. I proceeded to kick his butt and now have the achievement.

As achievements go having to do a zone story at least once was not so bad. It just sucks if you want to do them on alternate characters.
