New class and new weapons in the indefinite future

I want to see new weapons in the game, it would be cool if over time they would add melee weapons for mage classes, and the staff of curses, as well as clockwork crossbow, along with the clockwork engineer class, how do you look at it?

Once something is added it can't be easily taken away, they have to think pretty hard to what works and what doesn't, how to include it into the balance (or lack thereof) of the overall game.

so it was about the future, now of course it is unlikely that anyone will add it, for this there is a forum to throw ideas, hmm

this is a problem, I agree, but the topic was created to discuss whether it is necessary or not, to push a thought, the developers, one way or another, already decide for themselves

I desperately want new weapon skill lines to play with.

The biggest issue here (I think anyway) is that if they were to add a new weapon type, that might mean they would need to create art for every motif style in the game for that new weapon.

I think it would be possible to add basic styles, release weapons, and then fill in the gaps little by little, especially since they have ready-made options, they just need to be inserted into a new weapon, but maybe I'm wrong and it's not as easy as it seems, then why would option 1 be bad? For example, you don’t need to create anything for a new staff and you can simply copy from ready-made styles, about spellblade, etc., I agree

Excited for new class but honestly it’s gonna get old fast. The game does need new weapon lines. For a start they should separate Destro staff in three separate lines. That would keep things interesting for a while.

[snip] we want more freedom options like I don't wanna see 10 years of same bow skills every day no I want more.

I am a huge fan of spears, and I use them in every game I play if it’s possible. I wish they would add a spear skill line, as well as new magic lines like alteration, mysticism, or conjuration.

I personally was hoping for something my main character could use since that's what I have the most time for.

The only excuse I've seen someone from ZoS give for no new weapon skill lines is that they would have to go back and add new art for each motif which is entirely unnecessary in my opinion. Just add the new skill line with a base model/art and don't even bother going back to add a new page to old motifs, and only do it for future motifs. Problem flippin' solved, there's no need to overthink this.

This would be a reasonable decision, instead of looking for excuses and saying that because of the huge number of motives, new weapons and mechanics should not come out, and there will be no new weapon without everyone motif, there is no way around it or just ignore, hah, yes. [snip]

No need for brand new weapons, imo it's fine to juste keep the regular Elder Scrolls weapons, without introducing new ones that doesn't seem to fit in the franchise, like some spears or rune gloves or whatever. But there are already options not used yet from Elder Scrolls, which wouldn't require new motifs : staves. We already have destro and resto ones, but what about conjuration, alteration, illusion? Would love to see them and maybe tank with an alteration staff ! (And why not a crossbow from dawnguard, who knows)

And that's just about money- labour and time. Its a choice about what to spend on. I agree they could start with the ones they push in the crown store, the ones the data tells them are most worn, and then add several a year of the rest, and they'd get there.

I have been wondering why we don't have a single handed skill line or at the very least allowing the duel wield passives and possibly the abilities to work with single handed. As an example, destruction staff abilities change form and function depending on the staff just as sword, dagger, mace, and axe have different passive effects. I think it would work really well with the current mythics system, in fact, I already do it for fun; but it comes at quite the cost in effectiveness. It would require no additions to the game other than some tool tip adjustments as the effects are already present with the npcs. Think of it as a middle ground between the defensive sword and board and full offense duel wield.

New weapon - skill line - why not?

Make similar to werewolf skills - when the ultimate from this skill line is slotted, the new X weapon skills replace what you have actually equipped.

You will then appear to have new X weapon in you hands - as long as you remain on the bar with the ultimate slotted. Retain ability to swap bars.

This would bypass the issue of motifs.
Everyone has their own favorite new weapon idea.
    Keep adding weapons this way...

I'd like to be able to have the fighter guild cross bow always equipped on back bar and with its own special crossbow skills - specially focused for vampire/ww/undead hunting...

    So many ideas and options.
