That's very steep.

But its causing a fixed 500 damage to every status effect you can apply, Force Shock gets up to an extra 1500 damage per cast. You put a Poison Enchant on the Flame Staff and you get 1000 damage from a Burning and Poisoned status effect on attack. Elemental Susceptibility which costs nothing to cast, applies 1500 damage every 7.5 seconds for 30 seconds.

That "up to" is doing a lot of work.

Practically speaking, you're trading 10% damage on all single target skills and whatever previous trait you had (like precise, sharpened, or nirnhoned) for charged and an average of 1110 damage on Force Shock (with a 40% chance at getting the full 1500 damage), while most other (single target direct damage) skills will only have an average of 370 extra damage (due to a 74% chance of getting 500).

Plus, if you keep your previous trait instead of switching to charged, the averages drop to only 390 damage for Force Shock and 130 damage for other skills, which for most people is going to be a lot less than 10% of the tooltip. Those calculations are also all with CP enabled, which means it's even worse in no-CP Cyrodiil/IC or BGs.

Hopefully it opens the path for more different staves in the future then... oblivion staff, poison staff, pure magic staff etc.. I have enough of using fire staff without being able to change the color of the flame at least.

Magsorc was already so overpowered in pvp, this 10% damage nerf will bring them back down to the level of DKs using Masters DW. Whew!

About time those OP Magsorcs got a nerf!
