Remove the time penalty in ToT

How many times do we have to ask this?

This is litteraly STEALING my life time!

And it is so paternalistic. "You want to concede and not play till the bitter end? I will punish you. You are forbidden to play for the next 10 min."

How do dev think this is acceptable?

For dungeons? Yeah, it's annoying. I got into a dungeon the other day where people were running ahead, but dying to bosses in Falkreath. I was on my new Arcanist, which was just level 45, so I wasn't able to carry, so I had to leave since it would have been a slog, and they probably wouldn't have finished the dungeon. And I was still hit with that 10 minute penalty. It was a fake tank and a fake healer, and none of the dps' had survivability so they constantly wiped.

Just switch characters if you really want to continue playing. Its even better because you get to pick up the daily quest for maybe another gold coffer if you complete it. I know I'm lazy in this department as I hardly ever concede.

    To ZOS:
Please don't remove the time penalty. I see people leaving match as soon as you get only 1 good card. It's very annoying, especially when you have limited time for playing. Please never ever do that. There will be tons of match leaving if you do that. Last time some guy picked Crow patron. I got one 4 gold worthy crow card at the 1st turn, and he left immediatly.
Some people see the matches as "win" or "lose",
so they think "I leave if i'm not 100% guaranteed to win. I don't want to fight difficulties. I want guaranteed wins. What's wrong with leaving? If I leave you already win."
Others (like me) don't see the matches as only "win" or "lose" but also a game, a fun challenge. Something to enjoy, and to have good playing time.

    To the OP:
You can make your alt characters TOT-ready by sparing 30 minutes for only 1 time for each character. Also when you think your luck is unbearably bad, just pass your turns instead of playing, and give your opponent a fast win.

Lol the fix for this problem is adding concede defeat option. Nothing else.

How would this be different from removing the penalty from the current "concede" option? You do not get any rewards now if you concede (as it should be).

People will continue to concede. A lot will switch character just to avoid the time penalty. So how should a removal of the superfluous time penalty prevent people from conceding?

Also it should be reminded that as we have now the conceding party is punished THREE times for ONE conceded match. It is just a smack in anyone's face:
    1. You lose the reward, even the loser's reward if conceded a bit more than right before the end of a match. This is fine with most.
    2. You lose points on a ranked match like if you lost it. This is normal and expected and should be as conceding just is accepting defeat.
    3. The DARN time penalty. It is JUST AN ANNOYANCE. And as pointed out can be circumvented by switching toon. So WHY ON EARTH DO WE HAVE THAT TIME PENALTY ANYHOW????

BTW there is another reason to remove the time penalty on conceding. I now get a lot of verbal pushes when I am the clear winner but take still too long.
This also is not favoring a good and relaxed atmosphere here because ppl are incited to sit there uselessly when it is clear that the other player wins.

I agree the ToT penalty should be removed.

In dungeons and BG you are negatively impacting your teammates by your decision to bail, and the penalty on queuing again is deserved.

In ToT you aren’t negatively impacting anyone. Your opponent still gets the win, you take the loss, and everyone benefits from having another potential opponent back in the queue.

That said, I also happily accept the penalty just to get out of a game sometimes.

I disagree. You're negatively impacting the opponent because they didn't actually get to play ToT. And many people find satisfaction in actually getting to play out their win, it does spoil it a bit to have the opponent concede right before you could finish your hand.

This is why initially I was against removing the penalty.

However, this game is a bit more RNG than others I have played. So, the ability to come back from behind is much less. There's also some very questionable design choices with some of the decks that I don't see much in other card games, so I can understand people who'd just rather not play against those decks.

So, I'm now in favor of removing the concede penalty. Perhaps after a certain amount of time, to prevent people from conceding just because you got a better starting hand then they did.

I have noticed that the few times I'm stuck in a game for a while and I concede, I don't get a penalty. So maybe something is already worked in? It just seems to trigger after a long while. I'm talking about 20+ min games.

Yes, you can concede without time penalty after some time in the match passes. That has been the case either since the beginning or was introduced soon after. I do not know how much time exactly, but it's still a considerable time to wait till that happens.

Yes, there is this possibility. But it is so late that you are forced to play a long time a lost match until it kicks in.
Also it is sometimes not clear WHEN it kicks in.

Again I think it is simply futile as the penalty can be circumvented by switching toon. So It won't really prevent people from conceding. It is just an annoyance to all.

When will that utter annoyance of time penalty upon conceding be finally removed? This is strongly expected. As of now this time penalty is such an annoyance that I am about to quit ESO altogether.

Y'know when this post was posted, it was just titled "Remove the Time Penalty" and "In ToT" was added later. But I mean the sentiment is the same either way. Both time penalties are bad in many situations, but good in others. It's touchy.

I agree with this. Some players are so impossibly slow that they eat all your time for playing the game even when they've clearly won. It feels like sheer rudeness or trolling and there's no reason people should have to put up with it. It is a waste of your leisure time.

Another suggestion would be to start with a MUCH shorter round time limit, only getting longer in later rounds when someone really needs 90 seconds to deal with all the mad combos etc.

And one other thing: it's not clear why players should have to sit through animations of eg the other player's cards being dealt before they can do anything. People already play ToT at the speed of a glacier for no sensible reason (honestly, how can some people use the full turn time on round one when every card costs 8 and above?). Do we really need uninterruptable animations to make it even slower?
