Success and Failure at Recruiting Players

I've only tried recruiting one person.

I'm not hugely social in my gaming (I started gaming in the 1970s, at coin-op arcades, and at home with Pong and then Atari, with the 2600 and later the 5200), and I never fully got on-board with the multiplayer boom in the mid-to-late '90s.
I have remained largely a solo-player, so I don't have much impetus to recruit other players.

But I did think my girlfriend would like the game, so I talked her into creating an account, and she got the base-game and Morrowind Chapter [back when they were still sold separately], and I gifted her everything else to bring her up to where I was, content-wise. (Greymoor was the active chapter at the time, Markarth was also active, and the Blackwood chapter was coming a couple of months later, so this was early Q2 2021.)

She was also primarily a solo-player, and she took to the game like a fish to water. She played for a couple of days, and then pre-ordered Blackwood, and she's been playing daily ever since.
And we even overcame our "solo-only" mindset enough to start running together, which we started doing about a month after she started playing.
Currently, we play together for a couple of hours, almost daily, then we both still play solo when we can fit that in, depending on our schedules.
I've been playing since August 2018, right after Wolfhunter dropped, and I have a full 20-character bullpen since Necrom dropped.
She only has five characters, but she's a better player than I am.

      quests do have different markers/colours

zone story quest markers are bigger than side quest markers and repeatable quests are blue versions of the side quest markers

I’d say there needs to be a more detailed system or introduction. Starting the game now there’s so many quests happening with dlc characters running at you inviting you to other quests. For people who aren’t use to this system it can be overwhelming.

I do not know people who would accept having to fatten mount for half year to get full use of it in a computer game. For each character one makes ever. And having at first tried and quit ESO for years before getting in to it due lack of viable competition I do know too well how drab and confusing it can be for a curious giving it a try.
