Trial Dummy QOL request

I'd like to see this added to the game.

All food and potions used within a house have a 100% chance of not consuming, however if a food buff is applied whilst in the house, it is stripped from the player entirely on exit and reverts back to whatever food buff the player had (if any) when they entered (so it cannot be used for infinite food for real content).

An option in the transmute station to create 'Ethereal' items. These come out free of charge at gold quality, but cannot leave the house. Allowing for players to experiment with their collections more freely and to experiment with new sets, or even old ones they may have previously dismissed. The second they leave the house (they have ventured too far from the transmute station) all Ethereal items will be recalled (destroyed).

I can see that the first one would assist if you were using 'expensive' potions, ones that use Perfect Roe and the like, but most potions don't take that much to make.

The second would certainly help in testing out different setups without incurring the resource cost. i doubt however that after this many years, either would be considered.
    Australian on PS4 NA server.
    Everyone's entitled to an opinion.

There are no Roe potions, roe is used for XP. Which is considered neither a food or potion. I think you may have meant Dragon Rheum? That would be precisely why. Allowing you to decide whether Tri pots (fairly cheap), or Weapon/Spell pots (also cheap) are more ideal, or whether you should invest in pots that contain Dragon Rheum (Heroism) which is worth 10-12k a piece at the moment.

If you are trying to test your build and want to see if it is really worth it to use Heroism pots, the cost is simply not viable unless you are already filthy rich. At least people without gold, if potions were not consumed in a house, could easily make 4 to experiment with it endlessly. If they notice a huge improvement, they would know it is worthwhile to either scrounge gold for, or go farm dragons themselves.

Presently, players cannot actually experiment with builds without a substantial cost. There are so many sets in the game that I have not used, and I've been playing since 2014, simply because the cost to gold or the potions you burn through on a dummy don't really warrant it.

People do this on the PTS, they'll boot up the PTS so they can essentially run all the sets at no cost and experiment away. By making pots, food and gear essentially free (but within the strict confines of ones house) ZOS will essentially move those testing benefits to live. The only reason one might use the PTS after that is to farm sets they have not collected.

There is the Public Test Server for PC folks. Granted it's not always up to date.

Are you suggesting that ZOS shouldn't bother making testing builds more practical for everybody because there is an outdated 90gig download available only to PC players?

I agree I don't know any potions that use perfect roe. But citrus fillet buff food is bis for some builds and that does require roe.

Two foods that have Perfect Roe for an ingredient are recommended for several trial and dungeon builds. I know potions were specifically mentioned but your statement could be a little confusing in mentioning food.

and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

One of which is a tanking food, and people don't umm use tanks on parse dummies. Well, I mean, they could .. I guess

I did think of Clockwork Citrus when I read roe, but people use Mag sustain food instead on dummies, but come to think of it, yes I'd probably use both if it was free as IMO the mag+recovery is really just a dummy food and not usually practical in actual content. Would be good to get two parses out, one at max (for the epeen) and the other using a food you would more likely use (which could be Citrus, containing Roe) so as to get a more realistic impression of the build.

For people that parse, and who this thread it directed toward, fear not, it wasn't confusing.
