Love the expansion....right up until working on the 30 Bastion Nymic achievement. I have had just about enough of this boss. Either it is BUGGED or it's design is just plain horrible. It's worse than any dungeon boss. Last night got a PUG together for it and it literally took 30 minutes at this boss, wipe after wipe after wipe(Either a wipe or one or two died and it healed back to full health. We finally just gave up. I even tried soloing while group watched and was staying FAR away and still dying with NO pull.

We tried staying far away and range and usually this works but for some reason I even died a few times and I was ON the other side of the room dying from Devour Brain and I never even got pulled in OR someone died just like me and the same thing happened. It's bad enough that you die for apparently no reason but then the boss heals up at least 1.5 million for each death? Give me a break, there are most freaking vet dungeons that do not have this nasty heal.

And for reference most of the time I clear it just fine with PUG's with a wipe once in a while. This felt like a bug, not the normal run. Right before that in the Dreaming part in another PUG we had one person literally just dying for no reason on a trash mob pull, over and over and over. Get a res and instantly just die again. Never saw that before in any part of the game.

It's enough to entirely just make me want to stop playing and yes I don't have to do the daily. Just have like 4 more to run and I'm done. Thanks for listening, there will be a short film at eleven.

    I have no idea how teams of people wipe on this boss.

    I am not here to disparage or invalidate your complaints.

    This is the only insight I can give:
    Do you PUG with a Tank?

    I duo Bastion Nymic every day. My ping is abysmal and my APM slow and low.
    It takes us less than 30 minutes a run, any run.
    30 mins maybe if we screw up Strix too much.
    But there are tons of easy skips to get straight to the boss. The aggro range of everything is messed up.
    Mechanically speaking, yes there are some reads you need to pay attention to, you need to interrupt or dodge.

    The way I play: This is just an Arena that released as a Dungeon with no LFG.
    But I have the delight of having my duo with me.

    I run into a bug occasionally, but my experience has never been completely bricked.
    Here is some reasons I speculate I succeed every single time:
    • My duo is a tank. A good tank.
    • We sometimes swap roles, and I tank.
    • Tanks are very important in this game, more than healers I would argue in most cases.
    • He will communicate if he is unable to interrupt when he is supposed to, this is hard to do in PUGs.

    We don't have trial gear and I as a solo DPS barely get away with 20k on most characters, sub-optimal in every sense, mixed gear, bad traits, the works.

    Team composition is very important. This is no different than any other dungeon you PUG if you want to not get wiped every odd day.
    • When the Irrefutable Herald makes those horrid lanes that one-shot you? Stand behind the tank, have them take it for you. Especially if it bugs and has no open lane.
    • When he devours brain with the easy to read wind-up? Where is your tank to interrupt, or someone should have an interrupt like crushing shock.
    • As far as I understand Devour Brain is an assured squishy death mechanic, much like the death lanes. Just interrupt him, don't stand close (sorry melee players!). The new 7-meter range is a blessing though in this regard.
    • The Heralds' all have a small de-aggro range, if all of you run away, not even very far to the edge of the arena, they de-aggro easily. So the best range is a natural medium distance, if that makes sense.
    • THERE IS A GROUP WIPE MECHANIC: If you over interrupt the boss it will wipe all of you. So maybe just let the Tank or one person be in charge of interrupting.
    If you find yourself more often in a PUG lacking a Tank, get a Tank build yourself.
    You do not need to be optimal as a Tank either.

    If you truly feel like not doing Irrefutable Herald:
    • Leave the Bastion.
    • Wait 15 minutes. The "lanes" or "bosses" rotate on a 15 minute basis.
    • The rotation resets regardless of who opened the portal in your group. That is if they are willing to wait.
    • Re-enter after waiting. Your journal should update with the new boss.

    I know these tips don't help for bugged situations. But I'm hoping my input helps in some way.

    I have actually run into the dying and re-dying bug before, to myself. It was in another dungeons some time ago. It was hilariously frustrating. But re-logging solved it. A pain, but it helped.

    Normally im very mobile so sometimes im already in the middle safe lane, but if i find myself in the bad lane i either rolldodge to the middle or go to the edge. Ive maybe seen this mind mechanic once, i dont remember it being an issue the 2 of us dps just kept dpsing the boss and finishing the bastion. I kinda miss doing them i really enjoy it keeping me on my toes, despite doing 35 plus of them ill be going back to them after mym maybe take some new guys through woohoo!😁

    I have no problem soloing that boss, but went in with 3 friends yesterday and no-one sees the pull in mechanic on their debuff bar (including me). When they all left as they had other commitments I went in again (as it was throwing me out of the instance) and I was able to see the debuffs on my bar again. I don't know what happens with that boss when grouped but something isn't right

    That is an issue as well. If the instances get bugged because you are grouped for content meant for groups, but not for solo players.
    It can be absolutely awful dealing with unreadable things.

    And feels bad that players who can solo have an advantage because the mechanics favor them in some ways, or due to the lack of bugs at least.

    (Again considering the layout and the secret puzzles, it still feels like it was designed to be a rotation arena like Vateshran half way through development. Which is, probably, also why it feels very decent to play solo.)

    I wish they had released this as a solo arena and gave us a real overland world event instead. As itself I feel like we got a bit cheated

    I had a lot of trouble with this boss until they patched it 2-3 weeks ago so that it was properly interruptible and not killing random players anymore.

    It's sounds like there's still a bugged instance every now and then. If it's like before, it's not worth trying over and over again while the boss heals and 1-shots.

    I'm skeptical that there's an "over interrupt mechanic", but there used to be a bug where interrupting it would make it spam its 1-shot repeatedly.

    Which platform is this - PC or consoles? On PC they said they fixed it, and I have not encountered it since. If it's XBOX, may be they released it with the same bug that PC initially had?

    That's completely fair to be sceptical. I don't often pug but it is something I've heard and read.
    I have not experienced it myself, since I dont do Bastions in full groups.
    I'd love to also get confirmation on it's move set. Since the bugs are obviously plaguing a lot of people.

    I just solo bastions, granted the shadow side is the most annoying to do, but I dont get that pugs struggle so much on them.

    Thanks all, I finally got my thirty dailies and am done. I still have PTSD when I see someone in zone chat asking for a bastion group though lol. I think it was just that one run that was bugged, (PS4). I ran into it a few times more and no problems. It was odd though as to how can you die when you are clear across the room from the boss and get devour brain? I've not heard of the "lanes" does the lane go clear across the room? Normally when his head lights up I just block for 5 seconds but the run mentioned above it made no difference.

    i havent had any real problems with any of the "middle" bosses

    some of the wing bosses have wiped the groups i was in sometimes, but thats usually when i get hit with too much burst dmg all at once, and we were usually running in a group of 4 dps

    the only thing that annoys me about some of the bosses is all of the freaking invuln phases, its already enough that most of the bosses have ~4 mil hp, but adding invuln phases on top of it is just annoying

    Staying away from the Irrefutable Herald isn’t the way to go. Someone needs to be close and interrupt when his head glows. Don’t need an interrupt skill. Don’t know why everyone is too proud to just use a plain old bash.

    There is definitely a bug with big groups, though. I stayed next to the herald an bashed him whenever his head glowed, the whole group continued to wipe from the mechanic regardless. The only way we got through was by kiting the arena with damage shields and roll dodging. Like others, I've done this fight solo with no issues. There is a problem with the telegraphing and the actual mechanic at the moment (xbox EU).

    You took the words right outta my mouth on invulnerable phases. Yes I understand the reason for these is so groups don't just burn down bosses quickly however it is extremely aggravating. Enough with this mechanic please.

    Absolutely, to me it's just unnecessary lengthening.
    I want to fight the big bad! Not minions! I get enough of that from Maebroogha already! :D
