So after a 1.5 year break, I have finally come back after playing FO4 into the ground. Logged my toon back in and saw a lot has changed. Was hoping someone could explain some of the changes.
1) Mats are crazy expensive- I mean good for me since I hoard these things but what happened to these?!? When I left in Dec 2021, a Dreugh Wax was around 5-7k, now it’s close to 15?!? And don’t get me started on Zircon. WhT caused these prices to skyrocket? Even Roe!!!!
2) Hybrid classes - this is mostly PvP but this kind of confusin me. If you play a MagDK which seems to be pretty awesome in PvP, what does it mean by hybrid if it’s abilities are magic? And with other classes? Kind of confused.
3) So we got a new class…how is it in practice? I usually main a sorc for PvE.
4) So I forgot to turn my eso plus off for several months and got around 30k crowns in storage. I don’t care about houses or decor. What should I use them for? I have the merchant and banker.
5) Anyone have a good reading and/or trial guild slots avaliable for me? I have a good tank and healer that wants to get their feet wet!

Thanks all and hope to see you all on the server!

There's a new thing - the Armory station. It's free in furnishings in the crown store. There's an armory assistant that you can use when you're not at a house with the station - 5 k crowns.

I'm having a lot of fun with my arcanists, both mag and stam. I like the way it plays - pretty smooth in pve. I don't know about pvp, I don't do pvp.

    1) Yes, mat prices have gone up steadily. You'll find a lot of theories about why there's inflation or whatever, but there's a lot of speculation and probably not 1 answer. They're also higher after a new Chapter and during the Mayhem event that's happening now. Crowns have also gone up in this time (PC NA).

    2) If someone calls a build hybrid, they just mean it uses both mag and stam-costing skills fairly evenly. Since the damage and healing of almost every skill scales with whichever stat is higher now (Weapon or Spell Damage, Max Mag or Max Stam), it's common for builds to run at least 1-2 skills of their off-stat (PvE and PvP)

    3) Arcanist seems to be middling for PvE and PvP. I like it because I needed something new after so long.

    4) There's an armory assistant, decon assistant, 3 Crown pets that give you a permanent inventory upgrade for all characters just for buying them. Then I'd just save em til something cool comes up. There's also an upcoming house that's an actual moving boat in the ocean

    5) Tanks are in such demand—you might need some new sets (Pearlescent Ward), but I'm sure you'll get scooped up fast!

hybridization i dont think changed too much, mainly the scaling, so if you build for mag, then you can still use some stamina skills and they wont be utter garbage (its more of a sustain question at that point)

for the cost of mats, people say inflation, but really its people selling higher and people willing to pay those higher prices, i personally dont pay for that kind of stuff, but if people willing to buy stuff for super high prices ill take it lol, my goal in this game is some gold income, not looking to gouge people (literally nobody has to sell dreugh wax for 15k, people do because other people are willing to pay that much, basic supply and demand)

arcanist from what ive heard is pretty decent, though sometimes can be kind of gimmicky with its reliance on crux, i havent actually made one yet, been busy working on other things that came with the release lol

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

Yeah like they said the Armory station is great.

ESO+ you really should get if you plan on staying with the game, if not for the crafting bag alone.

Hybrid class thing isn't really true Hybrid, more of a Hybrid simulator but I must say it worked out rather well. Had some serious misgivings about this however the Hybrid concept can mean different things to different people.

Mats are crazy expensive. Yes. I dunno its real. Do your writs, dailies, get in with a good trade guild. Do all the research you can before golding anything out, especially using Dreugh Wax or Jewelry Purple or Gold plates. Look for alternate means to get your gold jewelry.

I'd also suggest taking a good look at Mythic items, especially jewelry. Anything Mythic means I don't have to spend Jewelry mats or credits on a Gold Ring or Necklace. You know, little things like that add up. Also as a rule of thumb I don't gold out anything using mats I can't replace.

Speaking of expensive, you may want to consider selling your Crowns. I sell primarily to guildies and its a great way to subsidize my income for other things, such as mats.

And yes Arcanist turned out well. Little strangeness uh but not a show stopper. Apocrypha is a cool place to visit.

    Good luck and wb.

My theory is that whenever there's an influx of new players, prices tend to go up due to players who want to make a lot of gold really fast so they sell everything they loot at whatever the high end of the current price range for each item happens to be.

This causes the average selling price of each item to go up slightly, which causes players to list everything at still higher prices, which causes the averages to go up further, and so on, round and round.

It seems like it never really stops spiralling upward out of control, just slows down every so often when the buyers temporarily refuse to pay the asked-for prices-- until they break down because they (feel like they) "need" the items so they give in and pay the outrageous prices before they get even more outrageous.

And as long as the increases are slow and gradual rather than dramatic, everyone seems to just get used to it and accept the higher prices, like a frog being cooked alive in a pot of water because the heat is being turned up so gradually that it doesn't hop out while it still can and by the time the water is too hot it's too late to save itself.

i usually sell at what is considered the AVG for my pricing data, but for buying i always try to buy at what i think is reasonable, like motifs, i usually dont buy those for more than 25-35k each unless its only like 1 that im missing and just want to finish it lol
