Having to create a new character to experience new combat abilities gets tiresome, whereas I feel most people just want to progress their “main” character.
I have three accounts. Each account has a "main" - but I have many other characters on each account (both PC megaservers) and all those many alts get a lot of playtime.
I like alts. I make lots of alts. I play my gobs of alts. I have many friends who play this game, and they also have lots of alts. Other than those on this forum who say they play only one character, I personally don't know anyone who does that.
Altoholics FTW!

I suspect that is because of the whole dragons thing... people were asking for dragons to make an appearance basically since release. Personally, I wish they hadn't done dragons to keep it more in line with established lore, but what's done is done.

I have 2 of each class, both magicka and stamina from before Hybrid because there are definitive “best” classes for different roles.
How many of your characters have every quest done, every lorebook found, every Psijiic Portal closed, 5 stars in PvP, both Scrying and Excavation level 10, Legerdemain level 20, Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild maxed out, and every skill point…
How about mount training, or traits researched, and style pages learned for master writ crafting?

If instead of new classes, we got the skill lines of those classes as general ones for everyone, those same people you mentioned wouldn’t have a need for alts, where currently there is a need.

That's not my idea of fun. That's making a game into a job. I'm retired, I don't need a job, and I love my collection of different girls. I have 11 at CP 160; there will be others eventually. No rush, it's a game.
