[Spoiler] Necrom Storyline: Whats’s next and how / when will the story continue?

Caution: This thread might contain spoilers of the Necrom storyline. If you didn’t play it yet or don’t want to read any spoilers, avoid this thread at all costs.

_______________

So, I just finished the Necrom storyline and I have to say this might be the best of all Chapter stories yet. The build up was a bit slow, but the climax in Apocrypha and the massive plot twist / revelation was well worth the wait. Plus, Hermaeus Mora is a super cool antagonist and might have just become my favorite Daedric Prince. Apocrypha is a visual feast as well.

As ZOS said they’re moving on from annual story arcs and they’re back to multi-year stories, I am a little worried about the continuation of this great storyline. Usually we had another zone and story DLC in the second half of the year to conclude storylines that were opened up in the Chapter, but this year ESO is skipping that part and there won’t be a new zone later this year.

What worries me a bit is exactly that: we‘re left with a massive plot twist / cliffhanger and now we have to wait one full year before the story continues? Most players, including myself, might have forgotten most of it by then.

And if they continue this story, where are we supposedly headed next? The huge revelation was the existence of yet another Daedric Prince, Ithelia, which is basically the antithesis to Hermaeus Mora. So where exactly will the story pick up? Are we again going to Apocrypha? Will Northern Telvanni Peninsula be the new Chapter zone? As much sense it would make to continue there, I hardly believe they’re giving us a carbon copy of this year‘s Chapter for the next year. Which leaves me worried as well. In Elsweyr we got the missing part later that year to conclude the Dragon saga, in High Isle we got Galen / Yffelon to do the same. They always felt like the natural continuation. But for Necrom?

What are your thoughts?
Where do you think we‘re headed next?
And where will Ithelia fit into the bigger picture?

i think next chapter could be anywhere.

maybe the endless dungeon in update 40 will have some story as well

update 41's dungeons will likely continue the story as well

so we don't have to wait a full year

I'm hoping that Peryite will get a more stand-out role since he was just such a side character this time around. Like sure he had some presence but Blightcrown does not a Daedric Prince make. Also there's some talk about for the 10 anniversary going to Winterhold, which would be so amazing to me, I've been dying to go there and see the town and college in its prime.

Only one person that I found at the end mentions traveling and where they will go next and I am not even sure you get this option if you go another way on the quest but:
Dacia Caro mentions, if you choose to have her travel the world for a cure, that she is going to go to Winterhold. That's the only person that mentions any other zone unless I missed a quest.

    That'd be sick honestly.

Given where we find Mora in ES5, that kind of makes sense.

If we were going to Black Marsh next year, then I'd say that'd be perfect for Peryite, as a disease-fueled dragon and a disease-riddled swamp very much go hand-in-hand, but I know most people don't like swamps, and I doubt theyd go to the swamp for the 10th anniversary.

You're entitled to your opinion, but Murkmire was a beautiful waterscape filled with interesting storylines, lore, flora, and fauna. Now Shadowfen, that was a messy swamp. In more ways than one unfortunately.

If you haven't been on the boat at the top in Murkmire, then youre missing out on some views.

I really liked the story too. I guess it could be anywhere (including Apocrypha), and it will involve the T guy (forget his name) finding the last glyphic, perhaps?

Hopefully Leramil and Gadayn will be in it and their relationship will be blossoming.

Yeah. Typo. I wrote reams of fanfic about a couple of Hjaalmarch/Morthal families during Skyrim playthroughs. It's actually my favorite part of Skyrim in TES V.

I don't know why I haven't thought about this before, but centering the endless dungeon around Hermaeus Mora / Apocrypha and the "new" Daedric Prince would fit perfectly. Ithela is the Dadric Prince of Paths, the Mistress of the Untraveled Road, the Unseen, the Fate-Changer. This basically gives already the perfect way to introduce the endless dungeon and make her the reason why they exist. Endless Paths, Untraveled Roads, all of that sounds fitting for an "endless dungeon runner". They could even wrap Mora's storyline up in that patch as well.

That would also avoid the issue of visiting Apocrypha again in the next Chapter. ZOS has never done that afaik and it would be really weird. So the above solution would perfectly wrap up Necrom's storyline and also fit into the upcoming feature.

I mean that basically seals the deal as it does every year when an NPC tells us we're (s)he's headed next - that's always foreshadowing we're we go the next year. I'm not too excited about yet another Skyrim Chapter, but Winterhold as a location is great.

I don’t know if they made a definite statement about that yet, but remember, we’re not getting a dungeon DLC either.

If the endless dungeon is free ZOS would basically pass on two paid DLCs this year and I highly doubt they would do that.

So I guess the endless dungeon will instead be part of a DLC and pick up where the Necrom cliffhanger left us. This makes the most sense overall in my opinion.

Ysgild says she and her brother may go to the Realms of Boethiah next. Given the way we have met Boethiah in previous TES games I think that Prince might well be involved with the endless dungeon.

I don't think Mr T is going to have
any Daedric allies after this chapter, now everyone knows what his aims are. Can't wait to see how the story writers handle that one. An alliance of 17 Princes and the Vestige versus Mr T?

While I’d love to explore Bosmer more in depth, even though the AD zones are 95% them, if they do the 10th anniversary chapter about Bosmer I think I’d be upset. Pretty much how you feel about another Skyrim chapter, is how I feel about a Bosmer chapter.

New bosmer motifs and stuff would be cool but on the 10th anniversary? Idk. Bosmer is on my list of races I’d like to re-explore but not that high up. My interest would go slightly up if the Imga returned.

Why does the 10th anniversary for ESO needs to be focused on Skyrim? Because it‘s the bestselling and most-known TES title?

The question is, how could they make Winterhold etc. different enough from the other Skyrim zones to still be interesting - in my opinion they failed to achieve that with Greymoor‘s upper world part.

If they do something like Glenumbra vs. High Isle, I would be on board. Playing High Isle at the moment and I am impressed how fantastic that zone is looking and that it’s just different enough from the other Breton zones to still be interesting and yet still feel Breton.

Not only did we have just a Chapter zone in the Skyrim region, we got another DLC zone there as well. So how can they make another Skyrim zone different and compelling enough? I have really no clue.

Solstheim and Central Skyrim with Winterhold? Not sure what‘s the history of Solstheim during ESO, it became a Dunmer island thousands of years later, so occupied by Nords and maybe remnants of Snow Elves. But when I think about it, it just really is The Reach again in my mind.

I agree but I guess the major attraction to Winterhold is that the city wouldn’t be destroyed in this Era. Unless ZOS is dumb and makes it that way. The layout of the city and surrounding area is just completely up in the air.

Could you imagine if the College was actually in the center of the city and the city goes all the way to where the Winterhold Prison was in Skyrim? That’d be cool. Plus other places that were destroyed too could be shown. They could really put anything around that city, a snow elf ruin, frost giant camps whatever and it’s justified because most of the area was washed away early 4th era.

Another top region choice for 10th anniversary would be Hammerfell.

Here's my prediction for the upcoming years.
Credits for the original map to whoever just posted it on Reddit.

My reasoning is: Necrom was intended as a Year long adventure, so it will conclude in the same area.
If we apply the concept to future DLCs, I would expect a "snowy era" next, since we are missing it from some time. After that the High Rock zones would pave the way to the 2028 release of Elder Scrolls 6.
(I used the "2 main cities" principle to divide)
A: "We, as humans, should respect and take care of each other like in a Co-op, not a PvP 🌸"
B: "Many words. Words bad. Won't read. ⚔️"

Necrom has one hint on Solstheim that I noticed: In that weird menagerie in Apocrypha where the Morian Zenas quest takes place, there's a lorebook explaining some of the animals kept there, including one where Solstheim is given as the place of origin (the only place mentioned that is not in the game yet, all others were already either in the base game or in chapters/dlcs).

Also, Miraak is mentioned in another side quest (under his epithet "The First Servant", the name "Miraak" itself isn't mentioned - but it's clear that it's him, as he's described as someone "from a time when people still worshipped dragons", being a prisoner in Apocrypha for a long time already, trying to gain power, and all that what we already knew from the lore in Skyrim).

Ok, so I just finished High Isle / Firesong (meh) main story and there was a hint for Necrom too, when Zaji said what‘s next, a cult of Peryite?

I don’t remember anything like that in Necrom, but I might have missed it or didn’t connect the dots. The book for Solstheim and the NPC telling us she’s heading there, too, pretty much seals the deal though in my opinion.

Solsthiem would probably be the most fitting given the hints and hermaeus mora's involvement there in the dragonborn dlc.

What I wonder though is if hircine will have any involvement as well. For those who aren't aware Solsthiem first appeared in morrowind's bloodmoon dlc and the plot revolved around his machinations there.

I was thinking it might be the Northern portion of the Telvanni pensula.
Remember you find the note on the ship in in the harbour of Necrom that says Blight crown came from FireWatch.

As for Ithelia... Eso is before the Elderscrolls games, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim... And Ithelia seems to not exist in those times... So I can only assume that we have to put Ithelia back wherever Hermaeus Mora sent her.
