You don't really need special sets or items to play either of this dlcs and also class doesn't really matter, so if you're interested in doing them, I recommend to just give them a try.

The only missions which could become difficult are the bonus objectives of daily heists and black sacraments if you aren't used to sneaking mechanics, so sets can help with these. But that's also a question of personal skill, most people I know are fine without specialized gear after some practice.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

From personal experience when it comes to the Dark Brotherhood content you will have a horrible time if you are wearing light armor as medium armor gives higher sneaking advantages. I noticed when I was using light armor I'd get detected almost instantly. The only way I could see light armor being viable would be if you are a vampire or a nightblade.

I am doing Thieves Guild as a sorc. You could use the sets that I use, for an easier time, plus some invisibility potions

I should've been done by now but I'm busy doing stuff on other characters.

I did 100% of the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood content on my Imperial stamina DK, and without any gear focused on stealth, and it was definitely a struggle. Not having on-demand invisibility makes them much more difficult, but nowhere close to impossible. I ended up failing a lot of heists and sacraments due to getting discovered and just going on killing sprees. Once you learn the patterns and get good at using the hiding places, they're not too bad, but they are 1000% easier in a nightblade.

I also did Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, and got all the associated achievements, on a Sorcerer with no specialized gear, though I did use invisibility potions. You can buy or brew potions, and can also loot Roguish Stealth Draughts from Thieves Troves.

Here's what I would do for the following achievements:
    • Hidden Sacrament: Complete a Black Sacrament without being detected. Remember that you don't also need the highest reward tier for this achievement, so just take your time and be careful.
    • Perfect Sacrament: Complete 5 Black Sacrament contracts at the highest possible reward level. You aren't timed until you kill the main target, and you can be seen up to five times without sacrificing the reward. I found it helpful to plan out an escape route in advance.
    • Master of Shadows: Complete 1 heist for the Thieves Guild without being detected. Heists are timed, but you don't need to get the best reward for this achievement, so I would just sacrifice the reward and go slowly.
    • Deep Pockets: Receive the highest possible reward in 5 heists for the Thieves Guild. For this one I would try all the hideout locations and figure out which location you're best at navigating, then do that one five times as it comes up for this achievement.
