Building a new Imperial Templar so I can play instead of farm and fish

So I have no access to trails and by luck some group helped me get perfected false gods.

So I’m running 5 false gods, 5 mothers sorrow, pale order ring.

Tbf I’ve never seen my pen that high it’s insane. I’m not used to parsing or proper trails as I usually just run dailies and that’s it.

I want to enjoy the pve fighting again and maybe venture back into pvp but for now my 2 mains are imperial Templar and high elf sorc.

Is there anything else hear wise I could swap for my Templar in this new update as I don’t have necron yet.

pvp and pve are going to likely require 2 different builds

based on the way your set up now im assuming your trying to go more for a dps setup

for pve, pillar of nirn is a pretty good dps set (obtained from falkreath hold), if your still mostly dot setup like jabs, jesus beam, and the spear shards, you could go with deadly

war maiden is still a decent choice for a magplar too (overland vvardenfell which is considered base game now)

im not sure how you would setup for pvp though, i mostly play a NB in pvp

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

    Yeah I did have
    5 perfected false gods

    Sea serpents coil

    5 pillar of nirn

    Slimecraws mask

But it just doesn’t feel like I’m doing enough damage you know? Even with jabs and my aoe etc I feel like a soggy paper towel. I cannot for the love of me get my rotation again, before I used to be able to just slam people and bosses because it was second nature. Now and after a brain injury on top it’s difficult but I’m still pushing on.

If it means changing race to high elf then so be it so I’ll have more magika.

With pvp though that’s a long way off, currently I just get in with a group and ride along and try snipe one or two people.

With the set up above (both lightning destro) the skills I’m using are
Blessed shard, Jesus beam, jabs, mage light, harness magika
Back bar unstable wall, necrotic orb (waiting to level it) elemental susceptibility, sole barrage, channeled focus.

I’m all ears when it comes to skills as all I’ve done for 3 years is events, farm, fish, writs, dailies. Never really focused on sets anymore but I want to do it again. In 2016 or when ever it was on ps4 launch I was all over it and knew a lot about all the sets but it’s just gone from me because of the chase for gold

i use a stamplar for pve dps, though it is not necessarily "meta" build and playstyle, i can still parse at least 60-70k on the trial dummy (in actual trial situations i can still usually sit at about 12% of group dps, which i think is about average for a dps)

    my current setup is:
    • 2pc stormfist
    • 5pc pillar of nirn
    • 5pc perfected whorl of the depths (2h mace on front bar)
    • perfected maelstrom bow back bar

    skill wise:
front bar - camo hunter, stampede, radiant glory (aka jesus beam), biting jabs, the templar rune that restores stamina (i dont remember the morph name lol), flawless dawnbreaker ulti
back bar - poison injection, resolving vigor, spiked bone shield, cleansing ritual, and endless hail, shooting star mages guild meteor ulti

    my rotation is pretty simple

back bar use poison injection and endless hail, swap front bar and stampede and jabs (keeping rune up for some passive healing and resources)

i have vigor, bone shield, and cleansing ritual as more utility skills/more potent healing as needed

could i get more dmg dropping some of these utility skills? maybe but i feel like they come in handy and it keeps the rotation simpler

comparing to your situation, you could replace whorl for deadly and maybe move a few skills around and probably get similar numbers

since u35, i have heard that for a magplar you might get better dmg spamming blazing spear instead of jabs and then can use jesus beam once the enemy is under about 40% hp

another recommendation is that i think the current "meta" is duel wield on the front bar as that would be better dmg (and yes i know its counterintuitive to use stam melee weapons on a mag build)

Yeah I was going to do dw on the front as I’ve had it for god knows how long, idk why I went with dual destro.

This is my issue with sets is that it’s not easy to get a vet trail because you have the *elites* thinking they’re the gods of the game saying screenshot your parse or your not coming in and if it’s below 110k then get out.

I’d love to have perfected gear just to mess around with and try it in different ways. Mothers sorrow is easy to come by so I might just do that so my front bar has extra damage and use my back bar as support

to be honest, the difference between perfected and non-perfected gear is generally pretty minimal, so if you can at least get the non-perfected set its still more options

based on your sig your on the PS EU server, so i have no clue what the trial environment is like there, i dont think ive had too much issue with the vet trials in the guild im in on PC NA (no minimum parse requirements or anything)

there is quite a lot of builds you could do without trial gear, though most will say that you would be missing out on the 5% minor slayer dmg buff that it wouldnt be optimal

you could probably still do a destro on back bar, but i would do a fire staff instead of lightning, if you can get a maelstrom fire destro then that would be an ideal back bar weapon

I gave someone 100k to run vmsa for me because I tried so many times and I just got melted on vet. I just lost all mechs and I feel like a new player lol

I just want perfected stuff so I know I have that extra boost, I was running with normal false gods for ages until I was lucky enough to get brought into a trail group.

It’s either pugs or join a guild and prove that you can sustain and I haven’t found any guild that offer carries yet or offer to teach you as you go that why I was gutted when that trail group I found just stopped playing. They taught me loads on when to move, when to drop ulti etc.

I think I’ll just join normal pugs and practice rotation on a normal dummy after I’ve done my regular ritual when I log in then the more I do it the more confidence I’ll have to join vet stuff again

if your using the maelstrom destro on your back bar, you could get away with the non-perfected version, because that penetration bonus doesnt carry to the front bar like the actual proc bonus, and im assuming you would be on your front bar the majority of the time
