The main quest "The Tharn Speaks" is still bugged

Still conflicts with the Demon Weapon. It has been bugged since time immemorial! In my case: brand new Arcanist, reached that point in the main quest, I have NOT talked to Abnur like, ever, and when I go in the Mage's Guild (Stonefalls) he only has the Demon Weapon to offer me, I tried accepting said quest, dropping it, porting out and back in Stonefalls, you name it, nothing works. I don't want to finish the prologue for that chapter, I wanted to do everything in order, but that seems to be the only option.
I'll just finish the prologue and call it a day, but it really boggles my mind that the thing is still bugged.

PrinceShroob✭✭✭✭✭If I recall correctly, you need to talk to the version of Abnur Tharn for the main quest, who's downstairs and dressed in Mages Guild robes, not the one upstairs talking to Tharayya. Did you talk to that version of Tharn?Edited by PrinceShroob on June 21, 2023 7:33PM4 -

I know of this, as I recently did this with my Necro, for me he wasn't there at all. I don't know the parameters that caused this to be bugged. I finished my factions campaign fully, then got the quest "messages across tamriel", then proceeded to start the main quest. ✭✭✭✭✭I did not encounter this problem 2 days ago on my EP arcanist, I jumped down to the circular room and talked to Abby just fine, decided to start the mages guild story too since they intersect in the same delve.0 -

I thought Messages Across Tamriel, triggers once you complete all the Harbourage quests, never done all the Alliance quests first.
Didn't have any issues with the main quest on either of my Arcanists one from the AD and the other DC alliances, I start the main quest at level 10, then do the whole thing back to back for the skill points, right up to the start of Messages Across Tamriel, which I leave in case I ever decide to do the Alliance quest lines.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Not sure why anyone would want to put off doing the initial Main Story quests because they give huge XP and skill points. I always run the quest up to the point of "Messages Across Tamriel" and then stop and do the alliance main quest. But that's just me and how I run every new character. @Shagreth I believe the solution to this posted a long time ago was to abandon the demon weapon quest and then the normal quest will be obtainable.0
