Zone "Adventurer" achievements: "complete # unique quests" - how does it work with alts?

The Arcanist is my first new character in about 6 years, so I really don't know...

For example, Glenumbra Adventurer: "Complete 53 quests in Glenumbra". The achievement is account-wide, and nowhere does the UI show which character did what. If I forget that I did a quest on my old main and re-do it on my new character, will it count?

There's probably an addon; just curious how this should work by default. I'd like to be able to quest on my new character, and not have to log out and use a "questing main" to avoid the issue.

That's a good question. The last zone achievement I did was Blackwood (because I wanted Water's Edge on my 2 PC NA old accounts - prior to making a third account), and when I accidentally did the werewolf note on an alt, it didn't count. But seems to me now with AWA that any achieve showing it's account wide should be able to increment with alts.

@ZOS_Kevin, help us out here please!

    Welcome to AWA....

You can grab and do as many quests as you want.

What won't happen is the Journal tracking the count of the quests on Alts where a character has already grabbed the Achievement.

It would be curious what would happen if two alts were chasing the same unearned Achievement.

So if I do Quest X on Character A, and then Quest X on Character B, will my achievement count bump by 2? Or only 1 because Quest X is already counted toward achievement? And I would need to find a Quest Y to do on Character B?

Like is the achievement just tracking quests done in that zone, and you can run the same 3 quests on 10 characters to get to 30? Or is it tracking the unique quests and you need to do 30 unique quests in the zone, but doesn't care how they are spread out among different characters?

Yeah. That's what we need to know.... I love people who can actually pose the right questions. Sometimes I can - today wasn't one of those times; after shopping and getting the groceries up a 50 yard 45 degree incline (on gravel....), husband fell.... And at 5'4" and 125 pounds, I am NOT able to help him get up again - and there was no one around to call for help as today is US Father's Day so nearly everyone in the neighborhood was somewhere else.

I'll be lucky to feel well enough for a couple or three days to just do daily writs.

Right, this is exactly what I'm wondering - in detail! I would guess repeats won't count, but it's unclear in the UI.

You should be able to track your progress in the journal?

You would think. AWA was a poorly implemented change. This is the biggest issue with quest tracking on Alts.

The best way to get an answer is for someone who hasn't yet finished the achievement to test it.
    1. Check your progress in the achievement so far
    2. Do a quest on 1 character
    3. Check the achievement has gone up by 1
    4. Do the same quest on a second character
    5. See if the achievement has gone up by 1 again or is still the same

I got the Telvanni version of the "X quests in zone" achievement before I'd done most of the main quests in the zone... Unlocking Sharp-as-Night on 11 characters counted for 11 of them, as did reading the note directly by the daily quest givers in Necrom which directs you to a person who tells you who the daily quest givers *are*, which is technically a mini-quest that can be done on all characters...

    Same happened in previous zones.

Thank you! So it sounds like repeats do count towards it. That's great. I will try one myself later.

Dang now my pedantic, irrational brain is going to make me 100% the zone guide on my main before I create my new arcanist.

If you need an x amount of quests for a zone achievement, any quest will count. No matter what character you do that quest on. Just as long as it is in that specific zone.

I got the complete x amount of quests in Necrom from simply unlocking the two new companions on all my characters.

I did nothing but companion quests, after the 15th character I got the 30 Necrom quest achievement completed because I picked up Azandar and Sharp-as-Night 15 times each.
