I'd rather live in Tamriel

That's true....idk about being a citizen. Maybe adventurers have it best.

Probably a silly question but it's all make believe...

If you could exchange lives with your main, would you?

    I know I would.

Of course. My main gets to live an exciting life and save all of Tamriel. I'm stuck being a caregiver watching someone I love deteriorate and die. My role right now in real is the definition of helpless, I'm a witness to my own personal tragedy, whereas my main can handle the toughest challenges and in my imagination nothing so horrible happens to her. She's strong even when I'm at my most vulnerable and weak. She's faced every challenge - cleared every vet trial and is the definition of powerful. Something that I don't get to feel in my own life because of unfortunate circumstances. For me there's no choice. I'd take the world of risk and reward that's free of emotional pain even if in Tamriel it meant my own death.

I don't think the question is silly. It underscores the importance of fantasy and entertainment in general. It keeps us sane during hard times.

My main? He owns his own tower, a huge collection of antiquities and rare plants, an even bigger private library, a weird talking cat that dispenses food and drinks that probably will last for a whole millennium (although I'm not completely sure about the mechanisms behind that...), so he has no need to cook but can focus on more interesting things instead. He doesn't need to clean either, he has servants for that. Basically, he can spend his whole life travelling, studying artifacts, or just lying in bed reading, without any need to worry about mundane things. Also, he has a partner who's both highly intelligent and quite handsome, and meeting up only takes a few moments and a portal, no matter the geographical distance. So, what was the question again? ;)

That said, while I enjoy immersing myself in a good roleplay scenario or fictive story, I'm actually not prone to escapism. I'm too much of a realist, I guess; to me it's clear: We only have this one life. Only this one opportunity to make the best out of it. Or, let's say, to at least make the limited time we have worthwhile. That's what, to me, counts in the end. We can't control everything, there will be bad times, there will be pain, there will be loss. Fate/nature/chance can be cruel. Fate/nature/chance does not care about us. Overall, our fortune or demise does not matter for existence as a whole. As someone put it: "One life ends - at next dawn the birds still sing". I don't think - I'm sorry - that my existence or non-existence matters for the universe as a whole. But it matters to myself and to the people who are close to me. So that's what I focus on: Giving us a good time.

Of course you are free to view this world differently. I only have presumptions, I don't know the truth either.

Trade places with my drunk Nord warden tank? No, thanks. He walks around in a bathers towel and turban no matter what the weather is. He goes around with an annoying cat companion. He stumbles around oblivious to danger and if he ever sobers up he's going to have the mother of all hangovers.

I think for most folks it would boil down to if Stuga is also there.

No thanks, I enjoy backpacking and some pretty primitive camping but I'm also a fan of hot showers when I get back home and not having to kill most all the nature I encounter. Also, I kind of like my regular life. Calling the Psijic Villa home for real is a little tempting though, even without modern amenities.

If I could swap with my main… well… not sure if I wanted to, to be honest. I‘d go and live in all of my main‘s homes if I was a Vestige, AND if I could take my family including the doggo with me… but as my main is somewhat of a thieving, lying, violent psycho, I wouldn‘t trust him with supplying me with crowns (in the current setup, that‘s something I do for him). Or not deleting my account. And I doubt he would get along with my coworkers, which is a pity as I really like them.

Thank you so much for the kind words. This community really is special but I also really did mean what I said about the role of fantasy and entertainment. We're kinda taught to write off play as adults as a trivial thing when really play and imagination along with friends and various supports can be crucial in getting us through tough times. ESO and the community have always been a huge support for me.

Tamriel is nice and so tyria, runeterra, and azeroth. I would live and travel to all four of these worlds if I could. I love how creative these video game worlds are.

Me, a 30-something, 6'1 man with a beard, over weight, working a dead-end job while looking for something in my industry for who-knows-how long.

Or a female Khajiit named Lasagna that is essentially immortal, with a pet bear, owns multiple houses (some in different dimensions entirely), and has magical powers.

... I'd probably trade my gender and life to be a magic furry who owns property. Why not. I probably won't ever own property otherwise. Plus I've already done all quests on this character so I'd be relatively safe, considering.

Probably not. My main's a rather cynical Khajiit lady who prefers to live life in the great outdoors. She might spend some time logging into ESO to jump me off cliffs to repay me for what I put her through. She'll quickly grow tired of it though and won't mourn my passing when the servers shut down.

Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!
