Arcanist ranged abilities and PvP

Hello,

So first of all i want to say that ZOS you did amazing work with Arcanist and latest update in overall. My main issue with Arcanist is that all of the ranged abilities are just 22m! Why? If you are defending a keep in Cyrodiil and people come ramming the maindoor, you can't hit people at MG with your arcanist abilities. I really hope that this will be addressed at some point. And even the reach passive from Cyrodiil skill lines wont make any difference, because it only affects abilities over 28m range. I don't want to defend keeps with just oil and sieges + light and heavy attacks. Never have had this issue with any other class.

My second issue with the class is Fatecarver ability, mostly the fact that you can't aim it up and down. Just saying, try to kill that resource guard from the flag with Arcanist that is using mostly class abilities, impossible. You aim the guard, and shoot the beam in downstairs, and of course first you have to move closer to be even in range.

Please, do something about this, thank you.

    From what I understand the arcanist is supposed to have medium range skills, but yeah it makes no sense really considering everything else is usually more unless its something like clench.

    Yeah but this is basically gamebreaking in Cyrodiil at least. I understand that the Fatecarver is 22m but all others as well is just too much in my opinion. All classes should be able to use their own core abilities in different situations.

    I completely agree with this. Ranged abilities should be at least 28m to benefit the passive from Alliance Skills. This 22m restriction makes the class feel useless in certain situations, as mentioned in original post.

    The unique thing about Arcanist is that it’s a midrange class. It doesn’t have melee abilities either

    Having 1 ability that works in keep situation would be nice. At least that can be spammed.

    I don’t think “medium range” is really possible in PvP. Too many gap closers, pulls, cc’s etc. And now melee range is expanded to 7 meters, which, with a little desync sprinkled in, may as well be 30 meters for dizzy swing spammers.

    I’ve played MagWarden awhile, and the range on scorch (22m) means every Stamina 2h or DW spammer will be in your face at all times.

    Honestly, “medium range” in PvP is not a realistic/viable category.

    Arcanist is a melee class with the benefit of having a 15-22m melee range vs others with 5-7m ranges. It plays like a DK.

    Buy siege or slot a ranged weapon ability.

    You know that even DK has ranged ability which is longer than 22m, Stonefist?
