Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

What do you do in-game when you don't have anything to do?

Mekie

I queue for random vDungeons as a DD. Then I wait for about 10 to 20 minutes to join a group, only to find out they want to skip the entire dungeon. At that point, I decide to leave the instance, wait for them to kick me out, and then start the process all over again.... I queue for random vDungeons as a DD. Then I wait for about 10 to 20 minutes to join a group....
It's quite an interesting experience, to say the least. How about you?

I never "don't have anything to do" - I have many alts so there's always someone to level etc.

Although I literally never run out of things to do, there are of course times a bit more sluggish.

Most of the time I then check my guild chats. There are always people around which need some help with some dungeons. So I go and help them.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

If you mean what do we do while we're waiting for a queue to pop, I try to do things that I can easily get out of once the queue is ready, such as crafting writs, or just running around exploring and fighting mobs.

I try to avoid anything more time-consuming, such as scrying and excavating, or fighting world bosses, unless I'm waiting in a queue for Cyrodiil and I can see by my place in the queue that it's going to be a good long while.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

If I'm on my crafter/healer/multipurpose toon, shop!!! I look for cool furnishings, patterns, motifs, etc. And then I decorate!!! Make stuff! And then go shopping because I'm out of furnishing materials and sometimes I exit the queue entirely because now I'm mid project.

On my sorc I quest, or fish.

On any other toon, I run around spellscar for XP, or decorate, if I'm waiting for a trial to start I surreptitiously tour the main residence of a group member, sometimes get a whole tour done in whispers while waiting for a particularly tardy member.

If I'm waiting on a que or don't feel like doing another quest atm I'll knock out some surveys, visit homes I haven't bought to see if inspiration hits, visit guildmates homes(4 of my guilds are housing) or share/show some ideas I implemented in one of my homes if anyone's in chat wanting ideas.

20 Characters, there's always something to do. Every DLC/Chapter adds more and more daily quests to give you objectives to complete. There is a crazy amount of quests in this game both in the main story quests of each zone and filler quests scattered everywhere. Housing is another avenue you can take, it's not just buying a home and settling in, the way you can combine furnishings to look like something else is remarkable and incredibly flexible.

Right now I'm gathering the new companions on every character then leveling them up before I go back to my regular routine.

I've never had nothing to do because I haven't completed all the quests I want to do on all my characters. But if there's nothing I feel like doing and can do in the time I have I don't play, I find something else to do.

If I'm waiting on a queue or a guild event or whatever I'll either do 'odd jobs' like gather or refine materials or sort my bank out or I'll browse the internet while I wait.

I hardly run into this problem myself. 90% of my characters have a separate tank set up. So if I que as a DD and it’s taking too long, I swap my build and reque as a tank and I pop in a group almost instantly. No down time this way.

Back before we had the ability to swap gear around instantly (console player here), I would spend my que time farming motifs from dailies or fishing, or browsing the different traders.

    If I don't have anything to do, then I don't do anything. ; |

A few examples since I don't do random dungeons:

For general waiting, like boss spawns I have emotes. Soooo many emotes.
    - Or dig through my pack looking at loot, etc
    - Sit and just people watch. It's funny watching those who seem like they have to constantly run, jump and fire off abilities because if they stop for even 3 seconds they may die apparently.

For other times like if I have no quests I want to do there is:
    - Work more on my ridiculously long housing project list.
    - Fish
    - Tribute
    - zone hop killing WBs for fun and profit
    - Shop for motifs & style pages
    - Run around on diff alts, and\or work on leveling the lowbies.
    - Hang out in one of many fav chill spots and just relax a bit.
    - Pick a zone and just ride around, sometimes slowly. It's a relaxing break from flying around at "grinding speed"
    - Try new build ideas or tweak existing builds.
    - Look at new outfit combinations.
    - Go grind for the ultra-ultra-ultra-rare items with drop chances so low I will likely die of old age before I ever find them.
    - go antiquity hunting
    - IDK, prolly a lot more I can't think of.

And failing all that if I really don't have anything I want to do there are:
    - Other games! :open_mouth:
    - Or... Go OUTSIDE

I do usually public events (dolmen, vents, ...) because I can easily walk away if the queue is ready.

Or I just wait and am working/doing other stuff on my laptop until I head the 'zing' sound.

Also if you want to do story/full dungeon runs there are guilds for that. Group finder is mostly for people want the daily dungeon XP (+scroll) to farm some easy XP in 15 minutes.
