Game freezes after loading character

Hi all,

I was exploring the Telvanni peninsula when all of a sudden the game froze and I had to force quit the game. After restarting, selecting a character and the loading screens the zone appears, as does the chat screan and the daily writ reset alarm etc and then nothing. it just freezes completely. I've tried restarting the game 4 times now and its the same every time. I have 0 fps and (atm) 124 ping (was in the 999+ the first 3 times), and I get an error pop up asking me to choose to wait until the program responds or to force quit.

Is this a me problem? Are the servers overloaded? Something else going on?

I play on PC EU

Probably server overload. I had freeze in Apocrypha after 5 minutes of playing, than it was normal but very laggy. Also PC EU. First day of chapter release is always hard for performance.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Just wanted to update, I went to enjoy the sun outside and just got back in to try logging in again, but unfortunately I'm still experiencing the same problem. Once the character is logged in the game freezes.

I've updated my drivers this morning after downloading the Necrom patch, also tried restarting.

I've now turned off all my addons and the "freezing" is staying out atm.

I have the same issue.
I can login, I can make a new character, but when I select one it goes to the load screen, flashes a black screen, and then tells me the connection timed out.
It has been telling me this all day.
I have reinstalled, restarted, repaired, etc.
Nothing changes.

I have had 2 instances of the game freezing, and not being able to close out with task manager. Once when interacting with a quest npc, and the other I was doing reloadui.

Edit: Now a third time, porting to a wayshrine in Apocrypha. Going to start playing in windows mode instead of full screen to see if makes a difference to being able to close out.

I get a nice freeze and windows kindly asks me to close or wait for it every time i hit a load screen, hasn't actually crashed yet and it goes back to normal after a couple seconds for me

It is now almost 11pm my time and I have been trying unsuccessfully to get past the character selection screen since this morning.

@ZOS_GinaBruno and everyone else; If you experience the crippling freeze AFTER you've loaded your character, try updating all your addons. If that doesnt work try disabling all you addons ( And maybe turn them on one by one to see which one is the culprit). For me it was Map Pins that was causing trouble. I've updated it and everything is working smoothly again
