Feedback: Separate Shared and Character Bank

Given the sheer amount of stuff that we find (and the wide variety of ingredients for crafting), it would be nice if our characters had their own bank, along with a separate shared bank tab. Bank and bag space are constantly at a premium, and the upgrade options are relatively expensive. I'd love to see our characters at least have their own 60 slot bank to start with.

Ultimately the bank as a storage mechanism and character storage are intertwined representing the overall storage a player has; I think that no matter how they adjust it there will always be pros and cons.

Hasn't inventory management always been a thing though in Elder Scrolls games? I mean who wouldn't want more space for stuff, but at the same time...

In previous elder scrolls games we had essentially unlimited storage in houses (using the ground if necessary). The management came in how much you could carry at a time. An mmo equivalent would be saying that we have our default 60 bag slots for our character and 10,000 slots in the bank. Right now we have very limited storage compared to how many different things we pick up in normal gameplay.

Yes Inventory Management for a sole character. Now lob in possibly 7 other characters and youll begin to realize why it was a mistake.

You really should use /feedback in game for this kind of thing. ZOS pays people to read it, sort it, and count how many times they get the same request. This forum is not heavily patrolled by ZOS staff and it's hard to get them to comment unless a thread has been flagged for moderation.

My guess is that this is a database size issue with the megaserver. Obviously, even fully expanded for 8 characters, it's hard capped. That seems like it must have a technical reason behind it.

I wouldn't mind having a separate bank tab, provided that it increased the overall number of slots. If it didn't, I don't really care one way or the other, and I suspect that there is a technical reason for the hard cap, so rather unlikely that the space will be increased any time soon, either through tabs or otherwise.

I know for one hate having to share one bank along all toons, it fills up way to fast and I get confused about who has what for what. I spend more of my time trying to organize materials among them all, than I do actually playing the game.

Banker alts. Yeah, it sucks to be forced into making alts -just- to hold Stuff*, but there it is.

I have one that sits at the bank in Daggerfall and holds runes I can't use, racial crafting components and other various/sundry items that clog up the bank.

And I've also dropped hump-tons of gold on expanding bags and the bank.

I actually find it more of a flaw with letting one character do everything. It other mmos i played your crafting was limited. So it was obvious where stuff went. Your armorsmith/weaponsmith all had all those mats. Your enchanter/ alchemist had all those mats, and so on. Here every one is cramming their crafting on to one character. So the alts that use to make sense are really just there for space and no other reason.

I only say this because i have a friend i play with, i took 3 crafts and they took 3. And other then moving low levels mats we no longer use on to a storage alt we really haven't had to do a lot of management. We did splurge for some bank space though.

But maybe ive just been lucky so far.

I have 110 bank slots and 3 alts but I still run out of room, and I don't even pick up things I can't use.

This is my most substantive issue with the game. I spend entirely too large a fraction of my time playing the inventory game, even with ruthless compartmentalization and 4 dedicated mule characters who live by the bank.

Sure, I'll get bashed for saying it, but...

    "Neither a borrower or a ..."

I DESPISE the banker that says that! I actually bank elsewhere rather than listen to a lecture every time I want to bank!!!

Granted, I'm mostly Ebonheart, but one of my alts tried to bank where ever she is. Argh! I can't stand it!!! AAAAHHHH!!!

I really enjoy this game but I hate having to go back to town after every other quest to manage all the items I carry. I then have to log in and out of my bank alts just to keep the space organized. I think a system similar to GW2 where you have a separate crafting bank would help this immensely. I know that part of the game is buying bank space but even with all the space I've bought I constantly have to do the organization game.

It has nearly always been a feature of Single Player games, ES games as well as many others.
It has no place in an MMO, particularly one where crafting is not only encouraged, but almost mandatory. Having a common - but limited - shared (account wide) bank - say fixed at 40 slots - as well as character specific banks slots, starting at a lowish number say 30 slots but upgradable for a reasonable price, increasing for each block of 10 slots up to whatever is deemed the maximum would be more sensible.
However I can't see ZOS changing this anytime soon, The database updates required would be enormous and probably prone to all sorts of errors and exploits.

Sorry for the slight de-rail....but you can get an addon that mutes the banker speeches . Best addon I've ever installed :D
