PvP and indestructible Templar???

Today in Cyrodiil....

There was an unkillable Templar - nice change.
Bubbled up, and when health was almost 50% it went back up. There were about 11 of us at one point unable to kill this thing.
They were using Sword & Board...
They did little damage back, but just drew attention.
Any idea what this build is?

Tankz!

Templars can be very tanky. What they did not need was major protection; what they needed was a buff to puncturing sweeps (not radiant oppression!). That is it.

You can make a tanky troll build with every class. Templar and Necro are good at it. Tanky troll don't kill anyone. Just ignore them

Unsurprisingly, troll tank builds work because people are incapable of ignoring them. You can tell your teammates to stop attacking the indestructible wet noodle all you want, but it wont make them stop.

Easy to say until they start torching your seige and are impossible to bash.

1 other player and I were trying to stop a tank from bursting one of our keeps. They’d drop a siege and fire off one shot, then me or my teammate would burn it while the tank dropped another and fired it, which we would also burn while he came back and repaired the 1st one and fired it again. We were also interrupting and CC’ing as often as possible. The only thing that kept him from lighting the keep is that I think he finally ran out of siege, although he got the wall down to about 65%.

These tanks can’t be ignored because they can create problems that don’t require doing any damage with their build.

Exactly. Just like the ball group discussion in PvP forum. Some mechanics would be okay if it wasn’t game breaking. Ball groups third floor in a keep, impossibly killable tanks, etc.

They’ve made good changes to game breaking issues (which they themselves create by sets or skill changes), but they seem to like unkillable tanks and ball group for some reason…

'zactly what was happening. They drew attention and destroyed equipment.

But how did they accomplish this? More than just Oakensoul...
    Any idea of sets? Skillz?

Theres no such thing as unkillable tank. It's a skill issue. The 11 people OP was talking about were probably inexperienced casuals. I often take my pve trial setup tank (wearing yoln, pa etc) to battlegrounds to get the daily xp. Some days both teams all together try to kill me and fail and some other time I lose 1v1 fights.
Anyone can be killed if you know what you're doing.

Sounds like Mara's Balm + Scourge Harvester or Bloodspawn + a tank set that restores large amount of health or grants a big resistance bump once you fall below a certain health percentage. Juggernaut and Mazzatun come to mind, as does Robes of the Hist as @Elrond87 said. Absorb Magic with S&B and Living Dark (Templar Skill). Surprised they weren't spamming Jesus Beam like every other Templar

Like @TechMaybeHic pointed out. Charge up your ultis, maybe hit them with a Plaguebreak and kaboom

There have been a number of these showing up in the last week or so in particular. Two weeks ago we had the troll tanks for sure but I think some people have found some new set combos (which may or may not even be working correctly) and an influx of these uber tanks is worse than it was even just 2 weeks ago.

In one case we had a templar/dk duo running around inside a keep. For the record they were not blocking and often not even kiting that much (although they did move really fast (i have about +65% move speed and i had to sprint constantly to keep up). There were probably 20 players on their tail attacking from all angles and many of these players were experienced so its not like they didn't know how to hit hard. We had several sieges, many ulti dumps and even the hammer ulti-ing on them and it still took a solid 10 minutes to finally get one of them. I gave up on the other after that.

The bolded part is a big factor in the survival of most of these so-called tanks. I think a pretty high percentage of players that casually play in Cyrodiil either don't know how to put together a decent pvp build or just can't be bothered. I'm far from the best player but I've ended plenty of solo kiting sessions inside a keep by simply hitting them with a hard CC or a good amount of burst damage. A big part of the problem may be all the guides that advise players to build tanky at the expense of damage. I tend to run glass cannon builds because I'd rather get some kills and die than never kill anyone or die.

If you have a decent group they are not hard to kill. Otherwise just ignore them or siege them.
