@OgrimTitan sending love your way <3 and that first screenshot of yours is lovely! I absolutely wish I could play with that camera but on console you can't have it that low since we can't adjust vertical offset - I always try to emulate your camera but I end up higher and cutting the legs just under the rear.

Um. OP is playing in first person viewpoint, never seeing any part of his character at all.

It's nice to see other people caring about making their game/experience more cinematographic. Not a lot of us, sadly.

@OgrimTitan yeah... You have no idea how frustrating it is to watch every promoting video for the game, falling in love with the camera angle they use to be cinematographic, trying to replicate it on console and being destined to fail because of missing vertical settings... There are different threads asking for this that go back in years but nothing yet. Really hope something will change with the Q3 quality of life updates.
Your replication of that camera is inspiring!

Is it really that weird to want to see more of the world, the landscapes, other characters and things around me instead of the back of my character?

If I want to look at my own character I can zoom in (and I do when taking screenshots of them) but I don't see the appeal of having them taking up a significant portion of the screen the majority of the time when I could be looking at more of the game world instead.

It is not only about the back of a character, it is also about having bigger details to appreciate - you can see it as a "Macro photo addict" thing maybe XD. Also, an "immersion/cinema maniac" because it's a damn good angle compared to the one high above which instead screams: "hey! This is a game that you are playing right now!"
It's a nice compromise, since in First person one dies every second standing in AoE basically 😅

Edit: I would also play in ultra wide screen mode probably, if it was an option on consoles... Would be super cool!

I can't use first person, it totally messes with my vertigo. Which is why I can't go back to play Daggerfall any more. Though in all honesty I've never liked first person view in any game. I actually prefer to see what my characters are doing as they interact with the world. They aren't the "in the real world" me - I'm their deus ex machina in game.

This is ESO, not WoW or FFXIV. ESO has only about 1/4 of the bigger MMO's player base. WoW had a facelift years ago and FFXIV will get completely updated graphics next xpac. I fear ESO will not get the same treatment, it is to small.

I don't know about a total remaster, but the base game is very much showing its age.

Sure, it's showing its age, it's almost ten years old.

On the other hand I think it aged quite well:

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

I'm guessing after last generation xbox.and PS4 are no longer supported the game will be able to get massive improvements and additions.

If there were a heirarchy of things this game needed, a remaster would probably be several hundred places down the list. Basically, this game does not need a remaster. A slight spruce up of base game zones? Sure. A redo of certain animations, such as the awful jabs and the many animations that make your weapon vanish, would also be appreciated. A full remaster is entirely unnecessary, though.
