2024 Jubilee & ESO's 10 year anniversary: How to make it fantastic?

10 years is a long time in video game years, one that few MMOs survive to. So even though we just wrapped up 2023 jubilee less than a month ago I think we really need to plan the 10th anniversary jubilee out so it ends up being a bash that players will talk about for years.

So for the most part, lets discuss some of our favorite memories of ESO and how to turn that into something spectacular that can be implemented in game for the jubilee.

For starters, I think we need to buck the trend of the jubilee cake thematically fitting the yearly chapter. The 10th cake should be something extraordinary and feature the ESO ouroboros like the 2019 jubilee cake.

They should make the crown store free for one day.

Well for the 5 year anniversary, they did 5 weeks of Jubilee events.

For the 10 year anniversary, do 10 weeks of Jubilee events!

Well, for starters, Sheogorath needs to kidnap the Chef and replace the 10 year cake with a Cheese Cake. Eating it grants 2 hrs of XP bonus and also acts like the wubbajack and turns the character into a skeever, chicken, etc for a few seconds.

After that, ZOS can do whatever they want.

Inwas joking of course but I actually like your idea. Maybe make it a best of the best crate with popular stuff from 10 years ESO.

Actually you gave me an idea, maybe we can come up with things that we'd want in a jubilee crown crate. Then they could bring it back in April every other year alternating with the jester festival crate.

I keep saying but a 10 level home or home with 10 unique areas would be fun.

I think they definitely should do something big since as well as ESO's 10th anniversary it will be the 30th anniversary of the Elder Scrolls series.

Arena came out in March 1994, so maybe they could do a combined events or a series of events in March and April.

I could see them giving out 10,000 crowns on the 10th day of the monthly login rewards. It would cause a temporary drop in crown to gold deflation to boot.

I hope they do something really big as well. It's a huge milestone for both the game, and as someone else mentioned, the franchise. 30 years of Elder Scrolls is such a huge monument that is incredibly rare. Bethesda hopefully also does something with Skyrim or perhaps some anniversary sale on Steam.

I think it would be nice if they made available all the collectable fragments from previous years at the Impresario and extend the Jubilee by 10 extra days.
That way those who missed some of the pets, morphs, etc would have a chance to earn them.

The Jubilee is already an awesome event, so I spose anything extra they do on top of that will be cool!
Looking forward to what they cook up

By the Divines I hope not.

I'm thinking they should give us a shrubbery. Something nice but not to expensive.

This is kind of petty but they used to add a layer each year. I want a ten layer cake for the 10th anniversary. Maybe have each layer decorated like that year’s releases. And tell us which Daedric Prince(s) ordered the Jubilee cake from Chef Donolon! I’ve been wondering for years.

Beyond that, free ESO+ for everyone during the event - no one wants to be playing the inventory management game with all the style mats, and they usually have some kind of free trial around that time anyway, they did the free to play trial this year. In fact do both - it’s the tenth anniversary, pull out all the stops!

Double drops from resources, double AP, double telvar to go with the double XP.

Do some in- and out-of-game contests - fan art, cake baking, housing competitions with prizes. Etc.

Sales on everything. DLC, costumes, everything.

I’d say give everyone who participates a discount on ESVI, but I doubt it will be out by then. :p

I reckon- a story featuring threads and themes from base game Tamriel. I wouldn't be surprised to see some Molag Bal or Meridia chords being plucked- the latter would be exciting to a lot of people because it might offer the possibility for closure regarding Darien Gortier finally. This alone would bring a lot of hype, and be celebrating something uniquely ZOS'.

I think there's also the possibility of the year's story pulling together threads they've been working through over the last few years. For instance, its interesting to me that the 3BW leaders thread was explored last year, but also left dangling. If there are other threads through the last couple of years I haven't noticed, there could be a big story pay-off regarding the 3bw status quo?

I wonder if the trend of the version 2 dungeons might finally culminate in a second version of Vaults of Madness, which seems to have sentimental value for the developers, at least, and who's story was never completed.

I imagine lots of cool, unique and maybe surprising scripted events to make the world a bit more fun and exciting throughout the celebrations.

I also think they might "go big" with their feature system for that year.

Other than that, I really don't know. I'm not traditionally an MMOer, I wonder what sorts of things other long-lasting MMOs do? That would be interesting to look at.

I don't want to wish time away, but I am looking forward to how next year turns out!
