ESO On Consoles

Well, if you a crafter especially, ESO will be a total disaster on a console. Can you imagine the time it will take to organise crafting materials in the stupid list inventory ? It takes a ridiculous amount of time with a mouse to click and transfer to alts etc, but to have to scroll through a list with a controller ? Nope, just ain't going to work.

I know this has been a sticking point for some; I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt since we haven't seen the final console UI.

This is why I really hope they have an open beta. I'm not spending sixty bucks just to find out this thing is virtually impossible to control on PS4 and XBox One. And I have both consoles with online memberships constantly paid anyway, so I don't much care who charges and who doesn't. I just want to know how it functions and runs on console before I buy it.

All well and good if console players actually buy a keyboard and mouse. Also:

"3. You can now use the keyboard to navigate the PS4's system menus, input text, browse the web, and more"

ESO comes under the "more" category ?

And if it's the same as PS3 which also can use keybaord and mouse:

"Whether or not you will be able to use these peripherals within a specific game is solely dependant on the game itself."

    XBox 1 have support ?

Yeah, I got a PC. I just don't feel the need to post it's specifications for an ego boost.

I don't know about the xbone.

I do know that most people with a ps4 also have keyboards. I know I have at least 3 extras laying around. I've been using the keyboard for a long time.

Can't speak to ZoS. If they don't have built in support for mouse and keyboard that would be a gigantic flaw and one that would be hard to defend. They have made some rookie mistakes, so who knows.

All in all, I like playing the pc version with my gamepad, so unless they pork it up and don't let us use the mouse in the console version, I will most likely enjoy the console version at least as much as the pc.

The no bots in the console version Is a big seller for me.

Yep. I too play(ed) PC version using gamepad (using Pinnacle) and it worked really well.

I always like an mmo that either has direct controller support or works with controller software ok. This is due to my complete inability to be able to move and press ability keys at the same time (nope I am not actually disabled just very clumsy :) )

This now works, for me at least. The "Complete Beta Application" button at the bottom didn't do anything for me, and upon inspecting the page source it appears that there was an error in the HTML that the button had no action, however I just hit enter after I filled in the CAPTCHA box and it sent me to the Thanks for Signing Up page.

I'm interested in knowing more about ESO on consoles; with all of the scuttlebutt I'm interested in some firm information. Please contribute, especially if you can reference a good article or other online snippet. We know the game is slatted for an XBOX ONE and PS4 release; I've seen varying release dates listed including the following from Wikipedia: June 30, 2014, although this is likely the same vague guess as most retailers offering pre-purchase. The ESO site only mentions June in it's Release Plans:
    elderscrollsonline.com/en-uk/news/post/2013/12/11/eso-release-plans-announced

The following article claims the game was originally intended just for PC until Sony pressed for it:
    ign.com/articles/2013/09/07/sony-pushed-for-the-elder-scrolls-online-to-come-to-consoles

This post from the Playstation blog answers a number of functional questions about the game; it would be easy to extrapolate similar answers for the XBOX ONE:
    blog.us.playstation.com/2014/01/28/the-elder-scrolls-online-on-ps4-your-questions-answered/

Unlike on the PS4 where a Playstation Plus subscription won't be required in addition to the ESO subscription; the following article claims an XBOX Live subscription will be required for XBOX ONE players:
    usgamer.net/articles/elder-scrolls-online-will-require-xbox-live-gold

The Console beta, were it to be planned, has not started, nor has sign-up even begun; realistically though, is it a presumption that a beta will even occur on the console? In fact how often do games beta for console? Other than World of Tanks on XBOX Live I can't think of others (but some of you may). A general review of information online suggests there is no beta in the works for the Console; although a reference in the Knowledge Base suggest there is, for what it's worth.

    Also...

The next news you will hear will be the console cancellations

Think of ESO on console as Diablo 3 on consoles it's going to be better how I know this?

Diablo 3 On Console had better loot and no RMAH

ESO on the Console will have less gold sellers and no bots

No bots = better right? I hope, can't wait for that beta to start.

woah that's a good point. When they ban your psn, you have to get a new playstation, not just a new account.

Xbox One will in my opinion have the best "Bot blocking" strategy. The requirement to pay for Live and ESO at the same time, will reduce the amount of profit people get from bots.

I have filled out the beta app twice and still have not received a confirmation e-mail after getting the Thanks page and waiting well over 72 hours and checking spam folders. The page is currently down for me. Anybody else get a confirmation e-mail?

EDIT: As soon as I posted this, I refreshed the beta app page and it was up for me. Applied again, got Thanks page again. We'll see if I get a confirmation e-mail.

Xbox LIVE Gold membership should completely cover the subscription requirement on the Xbox One console version of TESO totally folks!
  • annarr1117nub18_ESO
Why should Xbox One console owners be required to pay for two subscription fees that are the Xbox LIVE Gold membership subscription fee and TESO $14.99 monthly subscription fee just to be able to play the game???, Heck, that's money draining dang highway robbery folks!!!

AFAIK that's a Microsoft thing to require XBox Gold. Sony dropped the requirement for PS4. I'm also pretty sure Microsoft demands exclusivity which is why they we have two console servers.

I got through on the 3rd. Since that was Saturday it hasn't been 72 hours yet. I'll let y'all know if I get a confirmation email. As for having to have Gold to play on Xbox, it is what it is. I already have Gold and I don't have a PS4.

I actually believe eso will be better on console. Currently I play eso on my ps4 controller and I have to say I like it better than K&B. I will say voice communication has me worried.

I play on a macbook, can anyone tell me if/how its possible to play with a PS or Xbox controller? Ive seen it mentioned a couple times and would love to have this as an option when playing. Thanks.

Go download xpadder free version. Then watch a few videos to teach how to get the most out of it. Lastly map your buttons to the controller using xpadder. At first its very overwhelming but after a while it becomes super easy. I have every keybind in the game mapped to my controller.

Also over at esoui there is an addon that has it all set up for you. All you need is a controller and a program called pinnacle. The add on even changes the skill UI, its awesome. There are directions at esoui to help you.

    XBox 1 have support ?

I think MS doesn't like that because you then have technically a gaming PC which cuts into their Windows licensing
I have an Xbone and keyboard works, mouse not so much. But I can wave my arms around like a person that can't swim to get the cursor to blip in and out

That being said I think voice commands would be nice for hot keys. If only to drive my wife nuts

First as I understand they thought of an console version pretty early, Sony pushed for an earlier release, ZOS mig
Yeah sub just like us and it may not be pretty.

My experience with consoles (I frequent a popular trophy website) is that because of trophy hunting, a game will be really popular for the first month or so and then dies off rather quickly.

Most console people aren't looking for a game to play for the rest of their lives. Subscriptions will be a huge factor.

I am sad to say, I predict unless they iron out the problems in game, the console version will have some mighty upset folk.

I actually think we are beta testing the game for the console version. I am not joking about this. I actually believe this is why the earlier release on pc.

A launch like this would not survive the console community.
Lots of console players on the Skyrim forum then I switched to the ESO one.
In short, its more long lived games on PC than on consoles, but don't generalize too much.
In shot we have limited experience with MMO on consoles, was some on previous generation however system limitation as in 256 mb ram caused issues.
    This is solved.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

This is something who need to be fixed, would be nice with some voice for random grouping on pc too in my opinion as you need keyboard and mouse to operate, in wow you could do much with mouse alone, like ESO controls better but its hard to chat.
