I read every comment there. Only four people explicitly said they got it from purple boxes. More said they mistook the question and didn’t realize it asked about purple boxes only.
So we have no way of knowing how many people answered the question that was asked rather than the question they *thought* was asked, aside from the four who specified purple boxes in the comments.2 -

Yes, absolutely. People often don't pay attention to what they are doing and make claims that are wildly off just due to not realizing that, for example, a fragment dropped the day before. So, they look in their inventory and see two, and leap to the conclusion that one must have dropped in a purple box, when it just dropped the day before.2 -

I mean, those people could also be experiencing false positives based on not recognizing where they got the fragment from. Or trolling to get people to do something pointless.
It really is easy to test, you can earn 7 purple boxes per character per day I think. So, 18 characters means 378 boxes through the end of the event from today. Do that if you reallllly want to try for a scrap that isn't going to drop. i totally forgot to run my 2nd acct through a daily to get an extra gold box, so i might spend a few tickets on some and figure something out for the remainder (after today ill have enough to buy 4 scraps)
if i get another as a drop today and buy 4, it will put me at 8 scraps, so i might try to run my 2nd acct through the quests today and tomorrow and i might possibly have enough without buying any for gold
the only reason i would consider spending ticket on the scraps is because the "fragment" stuff i can catch back up on during the anniversary eventplays PC/NA

My experience this event, along with my team mates.
One team mate got a scrap on Day 1, not since.
Another team mate got a scrap on Day 2, not since.
I didn't get one day one, but started to get them on Day 2 and then pretty much every day since.
BUT, since there was no guarantee of ever getting scraps again during the event, I HAD to start buying them from the Impresario when I would get to 10 or more tickets. I I think I ended up having to buy 3 from the Impresario, when i would have preferred to buy Indrik berries.
I think they should have left previous styles out of the random chance soas to increase the chance of scrap pieces.
