Scraps are 3 tickets each, making the costume cost the same as the morphs that are supposed to be obtained over a whole quarter. It's ridiculous. There's only 3 new things in this whole event and making one unobtainable is just a bad joke.

I've been getting a gold box on 3 accounts and only have 2 so far out of 12 chances, so not looking likely I'll make it even with all those extras

Some things, the Anniversary event start as this ends. its rewards 3*12=36 tickets.
Its only unique item is bonemold armor who I don't think looks very good and people will be spamming dailies on this event like crazy so easier to get. So no reason to have tickets at the end of current event.
Buy clot for event tickets if you get high on them and combine with the rewards.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

With only 9 pieces max for event and 10 needed for costume, no one will be selling. At least with past event items, the players who play a lot usually finish items earlier and start selling duplicates as the event progresses. Even the style pages are kind of designed around trading your duplicates for ones you need ("I'll give you my breeches for your robe"). Have they ever released an event item before that you literally cannot get from the event?

The Impresario item is 3 scraps of cloth, right? I wonder if the coffer items were supposed to be 3 scraps, too, but they messed up and are only giving out 1 cloth scrap?

The Impresario sells one piece at a time for 3 tickets each, unfortunately, not 3 pieces. If the coffers were meant to drop 3, surely that would have been noticed when Kevin checked with the team and they confirmed the requirements to acquire the costume.

Arguably the Voriplasm pet and Grave-Stake memento from Murkmire could be considered worse. Each had 7 parts. The parts for those were only a chance from strongboxes, and those strongboxes were only guaranteed once per day as a drop off any mob in Murkmire (including ones hiding in the swamp that your pet or groupmate could have killed without informing you, causing you to miss your daily tickets and your “guaranteed chance” at a pet/memento part). The fragments also went directly into your collections menu, so the only other way to get them aside from strongboxes was event tickets (7 parts each at 5 tickets per part, 70 tickets’ worth in all), not guild stores or other players/alt accounts. The “upside” was that you could try to farm for another strongbox for another chance in a given day, but those were quite rare and could require hours to get even one extra. (This was not your once-per-5-minute-cooldown purple coffer drop rate seen in more recent events.) But there were only 39 possible tickets that event, and the pet and memento fragments also competed with various limited-time indrik parts at the Impresario, with the indriks being more expensive than the current morphing collectibles at 10 tickets per piece and 4 pieces per morph (so 40 per morph even for the base form). To top it all off, they required a complete redownload of the game client in the middle of that event, sidelining players for however long it took to complete that. They got a lot of choice feedback from players about that whole event and its rewards.

In four days I got a grand total of zero scrap on my only account. I always finish an event with at least 10 tickets in my inventory; when the Elsweyr one ended, I had 12, so I was able to buy scraps from the Impresario. It makes me sad to say this, but I guess a way for players to safeguard themselves against bad decisions from the devs is to make an effort to finish events full of tickets.

At a minimum, they should let you "learn" the scraps as you get them so you don't have to store them for the couple of years it will take to get 10.

How much is the Scrap of Minstel's Cloth worth? i don't see it on the guild trader website to get a price idea. i have one, and didn't think it was worth anything as a result.

I had gotten one every day until today. So I got two using tickets bought with crowns and then decided to see what I could find at the guild traders (Xbox NA). Some guy had 5 listed at 90k each and I bought them. I don't even think the costume is that great but you know ...FOMO.

This reminds me of the murkmire event fiasco which was arguably worse. 14 or so fragments for 2 collectibles, only 1 chance at a collectible per day and you couldn't trade pieces. I remember spending all the tickets I got just on the pet fragments. The grave-stake memento till now is the only event collectible I don't have.

I have no idea if the costume is coming back next year. It seems too late to fix it this year and the prices for cloth on PCNA are already 500k - 1 mill each at least. Overall poor design on the part of ZOS, or yet another cynical attempt to get people to buy tickets for crowns.

Every single time something like this happens I’m reminded of Eddie Murphy’s sketch about the ice cream van where he says (as the ice cream van driver) “let’s see how fast we can make these kids run”.

    [snip]

Edit: and they’ll keep doing it every time because people are buying tickets and spending millions on these cloth scraps and are grinding leads for the latest mythic that will be nerfed one update later.

I want to say that ZOS simply didn't double check the math. The other option is something I can't talk about here. Logically speaking, since I can't talk about the other option, it must be false, which means that ZOS simply didn't double check the math on the drop rates. I'm sure they can hotfix it and up the drop rates to the intended numbers.

They double checked the math, knew there were not enough drop chances for a single account to get the costume without using tickets or paying outrageous (currently 600k-1 mil+ on PC/NA) prices on guild traders, and pushed it to live anyway.

I would check in mournhold. The prices are better there

No, they really aren't, though if you are lucky you will find them for less, when I bought my 10, I find a few for 250-300k, but those are snapped up quickly and either used or flipped for twice that.

Only thing keeping it from getting to crazy is that it isn't in TTC yet so some folks are listing it at 250-300k because that is what folks are offering in zone chat.

If PC ma I saw 3 to 4 people selling for 300k in aurdion zone chat. It's still selling for 400k in guild stores. Where do you see it at 200 I'm a guild store listing?

Since there is no ttc listing I had to go from zone to zone checking each shop, I bought everything under 500k, I saw a few for 250-300 and immediately bought them. I stopped by the time I hit Auridon because I'd gotten the 10 I needed. Any listing under 500k are snapped up very quickly.

I've been running 6-7 characters through the Jesters Quests everyday, so 1 gold chest and 7 per character, that is 42+ chests and I've gotten ZERO cloth scraps...I know I sometimes have bad luck, but NONE in 150 chests seems ridiculous to me and you need 10!

Anyone else having this terrible luck?

So you can only get one per day out of the gold box, it is not guaranteed, I am 0/5 over 2 accounts, after reading the official thread for the event it was explained that the issue was related to the dev's and [snip], but were direct that this was intentional and by design.

So the only way to get the costume is to either purchase extra scraps with tickets (3 each) or pay 500+k a piece on the traders. I went ahead and dumped around 4 million gold and just bought them. This is the kind of crap that makes me want to take a hiatus from the game. I've been playing since closed beta and this is the second time I feel like they have really exploited the player base with an event. It certainly doesn't engender positive feelings to ZoS and sucks any enjoyment from the event.

No one is forcing you to buy the cosmetic, you could've waited till the end of the event for the price per scrap to drop

If anything the price will skyrocket once they're unavailable. Look at the price of all the other very rare currently unobtainable event items (Maelstrom style pages, worm cult motifs etc)

Cloth is not on TTC yet. At PC EU the average offer is 300K today and there are quite a lot of offers,
lowest prices i have spotted were 250-265K. In my understanding next few days the price will decrease,
while on Thursday flippers will purchase the remaining cloth to resell them 5x higher after the item will becomes unobtainable

I got 3 scraps so far, which I will save for next year... and the one after, and possibly the one after until all 10 are combinable. Previous year's fragments continue to drop, and I have enough cosmetics that I am in no rush to get another silly costume.

I brought all my parts very early on on PC-EU before everyone realised there was going to be a possible shortage, I got some very good bargains, I got 6 of the 10 parts this way.

Now I am just doing the 2 quests at Hammerdeath each day on the 2 accounts I have, I will make sure that I have 10 more parts before the end of the event, so they can be used for a guild competition, lotto or auction at some later date. 😀

I wonder how many people will reach for their wallets & buy additional event tickets due to super low drop rate. Because with prices like that and taking into account unofficial gold / crown exchange rate, one could argue that it is actually cheaper to buy event tickets lol. Maybe that was their plan all along ? Idk. It is just a wild guess. I mean, nothing happens without reason. Usually older stuff from previous events is moved to some kind of special Event bag that you buy from Impresario. But as far as I am aware, this time it was left and that is why Scrap of Minstel's Cloth has super low drop chance - becasue for the most part you get old stuff.

Anduin, it might be the case if player enters the event with 10 tickers hoarded since Elsweyr January event.
For new players and only-base-game players the choice is either personality (which is nice) or this 10x "golden" costume
(10x golden is because one of ten cloth pieces costs roughly the same as Chromium Plating at PC EU)

I've realised there's no way to earn the full costume during the event and gave up on completing it this year. I'm hoping the pieces will drop in the years to come.

Is the costume even worth the effort? Has anyone seen it?

I've just reviewed it from the Impressario, and decided to sell the few scraps I did collect. It looks like children's pajamas :D

As someone who has a trading guild IN Mournhold, I'm surprised by this. If anything, I find that prices in Mournhold are generally higher because people who don't want to search around for deals use it as a trading hub and just buy things for whatever price if it's something they want.

@Saucy_Jack I see it less then 400k in mournhold. PC NA

    So far on day 5:
    -Main NA account- 1 cloth
    -Secondary NA account- 2 cloths
-No bucket, no broom, no hide shoulder on either account
-Plenty of stuff from precious years

On EU my rng was better having earned 8 cloths in total over the two accounts.
