What are your favourite fallback plans for maintenance periods ?

For the maintenance periods, and because I enjoy playing computer games, I like to have a fallback plan for the ESO maintenance periods, particularly since many of them occur during Australian east coast prime gaming time for weekdays (i.e. late afternoon to early evening). This upcoming hardware replacement maintenance starts at 1000 Tuesday and finishes at midnight in my time zone, so I won't be spending any time playing ESO when I get home from work on Tuesday.

Anyway, I've recently started doing my daily crafting writs next to Vivec City, in the permanent "temporary" crafting area just outside the city, due to the ongoing construction work occurring in the soon-to-be Arena canton, and very much enjoying the zone's soundtrack.

Fittingly enough, my current non-ESO fallback is ES 3: Morrowind!

My initial introduction to The Elder Scrolls was Skyrim, then I started ESO, then Oblivion, then replayed both Skyrim and Oblivion, and now I've just finished setting up Morrowind with some mods, and have started playing it. That's what I'll be doing on Tuesday. (and yes I know: I've basically done it in reverse chronological order)

What about the rest of you ? What's your fallback during ESO maintenance ?

I'm currently playing Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim in addition to ESO, although not all of them in equal amounts-- Skyrim the least, and Daggerfall the most (after ESO, of course). It took me a couple of weeks to really warm up to Daggerfall, but now I'm loving it.

I have a couple different fallbacks for when eso is on maintenence. I love horses, so I have a couple of single player horse games I'll play. Even though they're technically games "for kids" they make me smile and are just good, innocent fun.

In sharp contrast to that, I'm recently playing through the first Witcher game for the first time, and am planning to play all of the games in the order they came out. I'm late to the party on that series, but I love it. Very deep storyline with interesting plot twists.

Going to read the books whenever I can get my hands on physical copies, since I enjoy reading paperbacks or hardcovers more than digital. There's something much more relaxing about it.

Also planning to pick up RDR2 soon (mostly because horses XD)

I also love cosey RP games like Stardew Valley and Strange Horticulture with lots of challenges.

I'm a very eclectic gamer with a wide variety of tastes, so things never get too boring around here when eso is down.

I have a busy real life and do love many different activities. It's a powerful protection against game addiction. So, although I play MMORPGs - and other types of games - since several decades, I have never been dependent on them. If I can't play for whatever reason, I just happily swap to one of the other activities I love.

Beside, ESO is a game I only use to chill solo, with no objectives of any sort. So not to play one day or more doesn't have any impact for me. Once back online, I just donate to my trading guild to compensate for not selling, what is fair enough and no worries at all.

If possible I do my daily stuff before maintenance starts then I forget about ESO till the next day.
I usually work while while server maintenance.

I don't play frequently enough to be inconvenienced by these downtimes. In fact for PST, maintenence always happens at 1am so us over here are good. Even still I've been playing Cities: Skylines lately. THATS a time waster.

Yeah, I used to play Oblivion, Morrowind, and Skyrim in first-person. But after playing ESO almost exclusively in third-person, I've taken to playing the earlier single-player games in third-person where available. It's strangely more immersive for me when I can see my own character, because it helps to remind me of who I am in the gameworld.

I've never been the type to play just 1 game at a time, or even a main and backup game, so if ESO isn't available when I want to play I just pick one of the other games I'm currently playing.

That part isn't a problem, the downside is there's no guarentee I'll have the time or inclination to play ESO before or after the maintenance, so there's a good chance I'll miss an entire day. I definitely don't play this game as much as I would because it's unavailable so often. (Relative to my other games anyway, which are either offline and so always available or Guild Wars 2 which doesn't have to go offline for maintenance or updates and so is also always available.)

Yeah, that's how I did it. Skyrim was my gateway drug- I loved the world so much I was compelled to go back to the other titles and see what it was all about. Morrowind drove me nuts at first; soooo much frustration. But the world is so rich, and the story so compelling that its still one of my favourites. It really added so much depth to the Dunmer as a people- probably what spoiled people like me

I hope you get some enjoyment out of it!

Yeah, I found Daggerfall frustrating too, at the beginning- especially coming from games like Skyrim. Still, it grew on me immensely, and in retrospect, the story was haunting and well-executed, and I love it for its tone. And maybe its stockholm syndrome, but I even grew to love the dungeons. I still hope to see more of the Daggerfall story-telling tone and themes in future ESO content. I personally think that its something that could be mined for inspiration for Breton content.

Two children(one special needs autism with LD) so I stay pretty busy with their games and homeschool. If I DO have some free time and it's during maintenance I like to read, elden ring, or even building houses/cities on conan exiles.
