Low drop rate on Scrap of Minstel's Cloth...

I've been running 6-7 characters through the Jesters Quests everyday, so 1 gold chest and 7 per character, that is 42+ chests and I've gotten ZERO cloth scraps...I know I sometimes have bad luck, but NONE in 150 chests seems ridiculous to me and you need 10!

Anyone else having this terrible luck?

So you can only get one per day out of the gold box, it is not guaranteed, I am 0/5 over 2 accounts, after reading the official thread for the event it was explained that the issue was related to the dev's and [snip], but were direct that this was intentional and by design.

So the only way to get the costume is to either purchase extra scraps with tickets (3 each) or pay 500+k a piece on the traders. I went ahead and dumped around 4 million gold and just bought them. This is the kind of crap that makes me want to take a hiatus from the game. I've been playing since closed beta and this is the second time I feel like they have really exploited the player base with an event. It certainly doesn't engender positive feelings to ZoS and sucks any enjoyment from the event.

You can’t get them from purple coffers, tho, I thought?

0 in 3 is definitely poor RNG, and I agree the low drop rate feels like unwanted pressure. But also we need to be clear on the actual possibilities and discuss expectations accordingly.

If they don't drop from purple crates then you can't get 10 without buying at least 1...the event is only 9 days.

You are correct, you only have a chance of getting them from the gold box, which means they added an item you need 10 of that you get one chance at per day on a 9 day event...nice job ZoS, way to crap on your playerbase.

This is a new low for ZoS.

Guess I am gonna be shelling out around 5 million gold at this rate...or 30 damn tickets, which is an issue as you can only get 27 from the event and I finished out the personality so will only have 15 extra...

Eh, I expect to have this costume and all the other fragments/rewards from this event either by the end of Jesters or within Anniversary. Without spending any gold for the costume fragments in traders or spending crowns on tickets. I did spend a little gold on the broom (or bucket, can't remember) and then immediately dropped it the next day and made that gold back.

yeah broom and bucket are around 20k, the cloth is pushing 600k a pop right now.

I am glad you expect to get all 10 pieces in 9 attempts...I came into the event with 12 tickets and am now 0/5, am using two old storage accounts I'd forgotten about. I bought the last two pieces for the personality, if I'd known how stupid they had done this I'd probably have put those off til the next event.

it is INSANE!! only 9 days to get 10 tickets, and they are not even guaranteed but RARE.

It feels like it is forcing us to buy from crown store... events were supposed to be earnable content! This not only feels like a betrayal, but downright dirty.

Logically speaking, since I can't talk about the other option, it must be false, which means that ZOS simply didn't double check the math on the drop rates. I'm sure they can hotfix it and up the drop rates to the intended numbers.

The prices are crazy. I was extremely lucky to find two scraps for 400 gold on one stall and the very next stall I checked had one scrap listed for 1m gold.

With only 9 pieces max for event and 10 needed for costume, no one will be selling. At least with past event items, the players who play a lot usually finish items earlier and start selling duplicates as the event progresses. Even the style pages are kind of designed around trading your duplicates for ones you need ("I'll give you my breeches for your robe"). Have they ever released an event item before that you literally cannot get from the event?

The Impresario item is 3 scraps of cloth, right? I wonder if the coffer items were supposed to be 3 scraps, too, but they messed up and are only giving out 1 cloth scrap?

They double checked the math, knew there were not enough drop chances for a single account to get the costume without using tickets or paying outrageous (currently 600k-1 mil+ on PC/NA) prices on guild traders, and pushed it to live anyway.

In the main thread Kevin makes it clear that he asked the dev team about it and it is absolutely intentional and there is no intent to fix it. So a big [snip] to the players.

That is not mathematics, it's programming language. The / means "is not the same as". So he is saying people wearing it does not mean the droprate is decent. Read it as: People wearing it is is not the same as is drop rates are decent.

Having a yearly event where it is impossible to get all the needed items yourself, defeats the entire purpose of yearly events. And really stupid in my opinion, as this makes events feel bad.

Nothing surprising though. Everything in this game is designed in a way to push players towards crown store.

No one is forcing you to buy the cosmetic, you could've waited till the end of the event for the price per scrap to drop

I have 4 accounts. I managed to get the last scrap for one of the accounts today. So all 4, feeding one.
My OH is one piece short,(4 accounts). He'll probably finish his tomorrow, because if he doesn't get one I likely will. Not guaranteed of course.
There was me initially thinking of the trickle down affect, assuming that the secondary accounts would get the cossie. Don't think there's a chance of that though.

Maybe there'll be a roll of scraps in the vendors after the event, but I doubt it.

I know being showered in items isn't great, the drop rates on the scintilaters, branches, regal regalia etc are far outweighing the new stuff, but maybe there should be some sort of weighted drop until the event is over. Higher chance new items, please.

I’ve been doing one quest daily for the gold box on my 5 accounts. All to feed any cloth to my main for the costume. So far, I got 2 on Wednesday, 2 on Thursday, 2 on Friday, and 3 today. So hopefully I’ll have it tomorrow.

Wild to basically need alt accounts just to try and farm an event costume for your own personal use.

No, they really aren't, though if you are lucky you will find them for less, when I bought my 10, I find a few for 250-300k, but those are snapped up quickly and either used or flipped for twice that.

Only thing keeping it from getting to crazy is that it isn't in TTC yet so some folks are listing it at 250-300k because that is what folks are offering in zone chat.

As someone who has a trading guild IN Mournhold, I'm surprised by this. If anything, I find that prices in Mournhold are generally higher because people who don't want to search around for deals use it as a trading hub and just buy things for whatever price if it's something they want.
