Profession skill line

There is a parallel discussion on a secondary class for a character.

However, I'd rather prefer a profession for offering additional skills and/or passives.

Ideally I would like to have this as a skill tree rather than what we now have with the skills that just unlock with increased skill level and where you only decide on morphs. This approach of skill development for me has a shallow feel upon it and removes the sensation of character development with growing experience which imho is so essential for role play games. And which I really miss here.

As I guess we will never have a more classical skill tree allowing a real character development this profession could give us at least on this a sort of character growing experience.

This sounds like it could be interesting but I'd like to hear what professions you would want and how it would work. I understand your complaint but have no idea what you are proposing outside of the vague "profession with no morphs and a skill tree" which doesn't mean much.

We currently have professions under the Crafting skill trees. These don't have morphs and provide passive bonuses only. Would it be something that sits in line with these?

I agree with Stanx that more needs to be heard. Given the extreme level of choice we already have in the game such as we have now, such an idea needs to be well thought out. At a high level an idea can sound interesting but a better idea of what is being suggested is needed not only for discussing it well but also for Zenimax to even consider it.

Could be a lot. Your phantasy is the limit. Spontaneously we could have:
    - bounty hunter
    - alchemist (not the crafting part but passives could boost bonuses from crafted potions)
    - savant
    - Rune smith
    - hunter/trapper
    - merchant
    - ...

It should not superseed class identity but could provide an additional identity giving the player something to develop and some small bonuses that are useful and might even improve interaction between players. One professional alchemist could craft stronger potions for his group mates, the rune smith could slightly improve the weapons for other players...

What is bounty hunter? We know it would not be bounties on players. I think there is still NPC bounties that were for either FG or Undaunted.
What are Savant, Rune smith/trapper, and Merchant? They all sound like they could be skill lines so what is your idea with them? Is it we can pick one thing from each after leveling up some related lines?

We already have passives in alchemy that boost their benefit.

Not being critical but even if this was enough to get the attention of Zenimax they will likely be thinking of something very different from what you are thinking as the devil is in the details.
