One step from Soverngarde!

This is a praising post that might come across as bleak but that's because the "backoffice" to it is. But it really is a genuine sincere praise of thanks.
Let me explain.

It's become apparent, probably because I preach a certain message to people I meet regarding Corona and wether they healed from it naturally with in-borne immunity v. "no neccessity for the Vaccine then, eh?"

I play ESO now more than eveer because for me....... it's an incredibly powerful distraction from an ever grwing prominence of truth.
During the last year I have met players... two ladies and one gentleman primarily who are terminally ill through either Cancers or deformations of the biological structure of their bodies and they, like me, wait to die but, never the less play in Tamriel copiously.

I wish I could name them because it's always comforting to find others in the same corridoor you're forced to walk but the distraction; beauty and imaginative explosive force of living hours throughout Tamriel is such a distraction from the terrors of fact that the mind is taken off a turmoil SO WELL that the relief is incomparable to anything else.

Ive met in the last 6 months two Ladies who are waiting for Soverngarde (Term used to bypass religious conflict) with one hand on that door who agreed with me regarding Elderscrolls amazing distractive quality and POWER is wonderfully absorbing to distraction and it's this that we home in on because noting else is quite so intensely busy, removed, imaginative, contrasting or free.

One Guy whom I built a huge garden with because he wanted to see how floating platforms were set up to make gardens aloft with...... he has now gone downhill so far that he is not online any longer and we spent hours together building this Garden and talking of who was going to be the frst to get to Soverngarde in real life.
It was beautiful to share this adventure with someone real and who compassionately walkeded the same terrifying road I still do.
And now he's gone. And it breaks my heart so badly.

For me I was given ................................. an 'injection'. Its actually illegal in my Country (UK) to declare the name of the Indian 'injection' I had fatally administered but 1700 people died emmediately of it and 12,700 people are waiting in the wings... deteriorating quickly as am I.
It takes something, I can tell you, to sit opposite two Doctors over 8 weeks and be told that your innoperable and nothing can be done because..........
My lungs are totally ruined with blood clots by the thousand thousand. So I wait to die as they grow like roses.

For me wandering about in ESO and doing whatever takes the fancy is so therapeutic I cannot cannot explain and incredidbly distracting that for some moments at a time I competely forget that each moment could be my last.

The Japanese have a saying.
"The art of being Courageous is not letting the enemy know how frightened you are on the inside. "
Sadly I am one of the few who know the truth behind this saying.

My time is getting close because the incessantly breathless pain in every breath is like a progressive bruise now and I wanted to say here to those that have played with me in Tamriel and those who know me that you have really made me so happy with some of the nonsensical things we do and have greatly loved our time together with all of you from all corners of this Earth.
Taking on some of the toughest bosses with only our fists stark naked.
Jumping off the highest cliffs we can find trying to find armour that lets us survive the impact.
Chasing those clockwork mice in Clockwork City competitions.
Guard Narking. ;-)
...and so on.
So many many thanks for your senses of humour and abiltiy to make me laugh so hard.

To Z.O.S.
I know of at least 6 people in one year who play in Tamriel who probably might not be able to next year. I write this with such heartbreaking difficulty tonight because I am aware that the handle of my door to Soverngarde is almost turned completely now and I am about to walk through soon.

And they and I give our thanks. I, on their behalf, and I before I can't anymore.

This is a rare sort of post that can bring both tears and a smile to one's face. It's true this game can be so amazingly immersive and so nicely distracting. The players help too, from silly shenanigans in Glenumbra to teaming up to kick some posteriors in dungeons. To me, it can often be much-needed therapy.

May you have much joy before you find peace.

I don't wish to try and compare or empathize, cause it isn't my place nor did I ever get that bad, but I can sort of relate to this feeling. I purchased ESO: Tamriel Unlimited during my Chemotherapy regimen for late stage Hodgkins Lymphoma. Left untreated, I was most likely on my final year, but it turned out to be one of the more easily treatable Cancers, and I made a full recovery after 6 months. I'm still here years later to continue adventuring in Tamriel.

I hope your adventures were grand and memorable.

I occasionally go to visit the in-game house of a guild friend who passed years ago, to reminisce and reflect. And I am reminded daily when I see the guild roster or look at my friends list that he hasn't logged in in 50 months. It's difficult, but also uplifting to think of the good times shared with those who are no longer with us.

Divines bless you, friend. Your spirit will live on in the lives of all you have touched.

Sorry to hear this!! Hopefully your, and your friends, their journey in this life was a good one! Every loss in this world is one too many.

Make sure to send in a ticket to ZOS, so that they may hopefully add one of your characters as an NPC in-game. Maybe one of your friend's characters as well, so add their names to the ticket. The garden you and your friend made, send in a request for that too. Maybe ZOS has room to add that to a next DLC/expansion, with a plaque of remembrance stating your and your friends their characternames on it. That way everyone can still enjoy seeing your character and creations, if ZOS is willing to. Which I hope they will. And your creation will not be lost in time.

I do think that so many people think these games are 'only' games. I think that if they do they don't know the power of the brain. I am so glad that you and your friends found ESO and know the good that can come of it. My 32 year old daughter also uses ESO to deal with life threatening and extremely painful health problems. She's not terminal yet, but any of her conditions can kill her, is mostly bed-ridden, and ESO brings some relief to non-ending pain.

My wish for you and your friends is that this game continues to bring happiness and that your passing to Sovengarde is filled with brightness and comes easily!

My sympathy to the OP and others in the same situation.

Given that the OP made a genuine effort to keep real-world religion out of this thread, it's a shame that someone had to spoil it.

I agree that a guild could keep the spirit alive.

    Thank You Princess
    A beautiful post !!
I am an older person playing this game (66), its a great distraction from the dreaded dis-ease of "Anno Domini" that secretly catch up with all of us.
Your post is both inspirational and also instructive.
I am aware of many of us (older folks) who enjoy this game for so many reasons, including the inability to "Get Outside", through either financial or physical restrictions.
Its great to read your wishes, despite the imposition of RL problems.
So, personally. I would say a massive "Thank you" to ZOS, for giving me personally, amazing amount of pleasure and enjoyment for this game since 2014, when I first jumped on-board.
Princess... I wish you all the very best. I hope all the procedures you will receive, reduce your pain and suffering.

How courageous you are to have been going through something as difficult as this, and still manage to find joy, friendship, and create good memories. Least of all to write this message to all of us. I'm glad you found a sanctuary within ESO and had many beautiful connections and adventures. I really hope you may be at ease, peaceful, courageous and full of love. We will all meet in Aetherius one day.

Thank you for sharing your story and your appreciation for the community you have found in ESO.

It sounds like the distraction and camaraderie you have found there has been a source of comfort and joy during a difficult time in your life.

Your courage in facing your illness and the impending end of life is inspiring, and it is touching to hear that the connections you have made in ESO have meant so much to you.

I wish you peace and comfort in your final days, and hope that the memories of your time in Tamriel will continue to bring you happiness until the newest zone Sonvegarde opens its doors.

I hope you will be able to cope with the physical pain, that drugs can remove it.

The woman I wanted to marry died 6 years ago, just 33 years old, from a short but heavy cancer.
I am much older, and was destroyed for 3 years, since then I was able to slowly accept to live alone again.

What helped me a lot, was ESO. You dive into a virtual world that helps to put aside the grief and sadness for some hours.
You even have situations where you laugh, or at least smile, an emotional reaction you would not have in the "real world".

I have COPD, luckily can cope with it, just had extreme getting out of air only once during a fever. It lets me have a vague guess of what you must go through with blood clots in your lungs.
I hope the remaining time you have will be mostly comfortable, and that you will be able to distract yourself as long as possible by playing the game, and the social interaction you have with it.

    Wish you all the best.

Thank you for sharing your story, <3 that probably wasn’t easy. I am glad that you found a distraction from all of that. You are a true warrior!

Same goes for others who deal with stuff like this and use ESO or any other video game or fun thing as a distraction. You are real warriors and I salute you!

Not to get cheesy or anything but I wanted to thank you Princess for this. I have had a few bad days mentally and this opens up my eyes again. And when you get to Sovngarde warrior drink one for us, as we shall we drinking one for you.

Thank you again, sincerely. I’m really sorry you are going through all of that.

This is more common in ESO than one might even be aware of. I am now 60 but was diagnosed in 1989 with HIV. I wasn't expecting to live past 30 at that time. Yet here I am today, retired, disabled and still playing ESO. All of us are dying more every day. Life itself is a terminal illness. Nobody here gets out alive.

The second part of an anime called Sword Art Online 2 is all about this, one of the main characters starts playing with a group of players trying to leave their mark on the game before visiting Sovngarde themselves, it's not the best show but just wanted to say that in case someone wants to watch a similar story to OPs.
