Mounted Combat?

To start off... I did a little research on this and found nothing before coming here.
This morning I saw a player on their mount using their staff to attack a Volcano vent boss. I'm not sure how long they were like this. I only noticed them during the boss fight fight for which they remained mounted the entire time. How is this possible? Did I miss something in the last patch?
The screenshot here shows what I though to be impossible, but here it is.

Number_51✭✭✭✭✭Was it a companion? Just wondering because yesterday I had a bug I'd never seen before where my companion stayed mounted after I had dismounted. I didn't get in a fight before it corrected itself (by mounting and dismounting myself again), so I'm not sure if my companion would have stayed mounted during the fight.0 -

Number_51✭✭✭✭✭Yeah, I zoomed in on your screenshots a bit and it doesn't look like a companion. Could be a related bug I guess. Maybe just a visual thing where what you're seeing isn't the actual state of the player. That could be what I saw with my companion yesterday as well I guess.0

Ulvich✭✭✭✭✭Here is a third screenshot. This is most definitely a player. Here they are in front of me. Notice the blonde hair? Companions do not have blonde hair.

BaalMelqartu✭✭✭✭It's just a glitch. I happens with mounts a lot. Sometimes you stand on them instead of sit, the mount is invisible or like this, shows someone mounted who most likely of course, is not. I've seen my companion graphically stay mounted for a whole minute after I dismount as well.0
