Synergy and Songbird

I didn't realize until a few weeks ago that when one player activates the synergy from another player's skill, it usually prevents anyone else from doing the same.

Does this also apply to activating the synergy from Songbird's attack where she levitates everyone? If so, it explains why all of the newer players I was helping to fight Songbird kept screaming about how they were mashing the synergy key like I said to do but it wasn't doing anything. I guess ideally the players with more Health should refrain from activating that synergy so the player with the least Health can use it?

    Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Combat & Character Mechanics section, as it is better suited there.

    Thank you for your understanding.

for player synergies yes, usually only 1 person can trigger the synergy per skill activation

for "mechanic" synergies i dont think thats how it works

if this is the nereid boss in vvardenfell, theres other issues with this as well, such as whoever activates the synergy saving themselves from the dmg, actually causes aoe dmg based on that persons hp, so if everyone is stacked up or next to high hp tanks, they are probably getting killed by the other player using the synergy

this was much more noticeable during the last vvardenfell event when there were a ton of people farming that WB lol

if you do not use the synergy, you WILL die, that is the mechanic with the synergy, doesnt matter how much hp you have, not using the synergy will cause you to die, but right now using the synergy can also dmg others if they are too close (it even shows on the death recap that the dmg was being caused by the other players instead of the boss)

Ouch. So the other players' death recaps probably showed my name on them. I'm not sure what a good solution would be. If I don't activate the synergy, I'll die. But if I'm the tankiest player in the fight, I've got to hope the other players can stay alive long enough for me to finish rezzing before everyone else gets killed and the boss resets.

Most synergies activated from a player skill can only be activated once per skill cast, but there are definitely some exceptions that can be activated once per skill cast per player.
This includes the purify synergy from Templar ritual, the combustion synergy from orbs, and the synergy from blood altar.

Yeah, I had assumed that all synergies could be activated by multiple players. But then a few weeks ago someone said something in a post which made me realize that it doesn't work that way, so I looked it up on the UESPWiki, which did say that there are exceptions.

But this got me to thinking that maybe the reason all the players I'd ever tried to help with Songbird in Vvardenfell kept telling me they were pressing the key to activate the synergy but were still dying.

They were saying the key to activate the synergy (apparently) wasn't working for them, but now I see that it might have been working but they died from damage due to my high health.

That could also explain why I would occasionally die even though I'd tried to activate the synergy-- one of the other players may have had high health, too, either higher than mine or higher than whatever health I happened to have left after getting clobbered by all of the adds.

yeah, honestly i never noticed it before, and if your soloing the boss, you would never notice it either

but there were a few times i did die to the synergy as well, and showed other players names in the death recaps (i was on my main as a tank, but i was sometimes getting hit by 3-4 of them at once when there were a lot of players nearby)

as far as i could tell the dmg was oblivion and based on the hp of the person hitting the synergy, so high hp tanks, would hurt nearby people quite a bit more

what im not sure of though is if this was intended or not (im assuming not), but during that vvardenfell event when i was trying to complete my collection book (this was the first double drop event after gear collection became a thing, so it wasnt curated and i was farming the WB for a weapon), i kind of tried to make a little minigame out of this synergy bug lol
