I have seen and used a number of add-ons that add loot messages to the chat window. These work as advertised but quickly creates an annoying wall of text. I have seen a number of mods that add floating/fly-away text for things like XP or gold.

I think it would be nice to have just a brief floating message that drifts away when I loot items. I am imagining an icon with the text (colored to match the rarity) and a way to customize it such as to display the icon or not, how wordy the message is, etc.
