Elf Bane needs update

A lot of time has passed since the appearance of the summer patch, in which the duration of the periodic skills was increased, but the Elf Bane has remained in the same state. I remind you that the 5th bonus affects the rotation of skills, adding 5s duration to fire skills. 10 seconds + 5 seconds is one thing (50%), and 20 seconds + 5 seconds is another (25%). This set has been passively nerfed. Considering that this is a rather unique case when a set affects the rotation, and that getting it is a big trouble with bags and random, I suggest ZOS remembering about it and adjusting it to the current reality please.

    elf bane still has some powerful niche uses

    as it is one of the only sets that can buff siege (fire/coldfire siege and oils) by extending the tick duration

    it is also very potent for certain still-low duration fire stuff, such as magma shell and burning talons (with elf bane that is 17 seconds of magma shell, paired with some ult gen and you could be near unkillable all the time) (or burning talons is normally a 4 sec sticky dot that wasnt nerfed, so its still very potent, with elf bane it would bring it up to 9 seconds)

    its also still very potent on venomous claw for a DK too, as that is more ticks at its max dmg output

    so i dont think its that bad, the problem you bring up is moreso with most of the generally weak dots, those getting 5 sec of extra time isnt going to help them at all except allow you to use your spammable a few more times

    With all respect - burning talons and magma shell improvement doesn't worth using 5-piece set for that small gain. Those skills it actually affects all was increased in duration: erruption, wall, breath, claws, rune, touch. Few more times of using spammaple (or lets say 10 seconds aoe-dot spells) IS how exactly this set ipmroves dps in coop with extra time on another bar if you use something like heavy attack set as second. So if you have 5 extra spammable per 15-20 seconds or if you have 5 extra spammable per 25 second - that is matter a LOT in terms of Elf Bane performance.

    p.s. I'm not sure that it works with venomous claws - its poison dot, not fire.

    Agreed, Elf Bane needs a buff to make it a good option for thaumaturge builds. I had it paired with Z’en’s Redress but with hybridization and DoT extension, it’s not that good anymore.

    Elf Bane extends the flame status effect burning duration as well. Never really took a look at how much damage the status effect's dot is dealing, but I noticed with the set I could keep it up without charged for quite a while.

    It does considerable amount of dmg. Zaan for example is good because of 50% burn uptime. Elf bane doubles burn duration, but it doesn't roll itself at DK because Dk already have a lot of burn sources. Its good but not main addition imo. I must admit also that EB is heavy set, so if your gonna place it to body, it won't be good. Means 1 bar available imo. And no reason to have it for 5 skill down 1 top. In my logic you won't have it active, when your burn will procs on main bar (most of the time).

    Well it wasn't meta before summer for sure and fall even deeper down after dots rework. But it could be good enough to use, if only it will have update together with that changes.

    So please make it happen @ZOS

    I read once that some guy spended 1 Million AP just to get fire staff from boxes. I mean yes this set is rly hard to get with almost no reward in his current state.

    I remember the Zaan's/Elf Bane combo. It was amazing. I was upset they nerfed it because you could purge, interrupt, or run away from it in PVP, but alas, the nerf crowd won out. But you could still run Elf Bane with Grothdarr as that was unaffected. Did that change last summer? Its been a while since I ran Elf Bane.

    @Trundik Elf Bane in PVE was primarily a back bar weapon for DKs. You dropped all your DOTs on Elf Bane, then flipped over to your front bar for primary damage skills. With the nerfing of the VMA staff, I would suspect Elf Bane could be competitive with Nirn on a DK in that you can be on your front bar 5 seconds longer.

    For sure it should be used at back bar, but problem is that now the dots hanging longer and as result elf bane user doesn't get same output as it was before, because actual recast of those dots happens more rarely in compare to prepatch. Less released slots in rotation -> less elf bane value ;(

    Ahh, got it. Again, I only used it on a Mag DK when it was still popular. I wish it was brought back into usefulness
